Meacham: Obama 'In The Wrong Business, Doesn't Particularly Like People'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

When it comes to the MSM, it's hard to get more mainstream than Jon Meacham. Former Newsweek editor. Current Random House editor. Picked for a Pulitzer Prize.

So when someone of Meacham's genteelly liberal ilk unloads on Barack Obama in such stark terms, it's newsworthy. On today's Morning Joe, Meacham flatly stated his belief that President Obama "doesn't particularly like people and politicians who don't like people are kind of in the wrong business."

I buy into Dinesh D’Souza’s anti-colonialism psyche of Obama.
He resents the British (and the Western World ) for torturing his Kenyan grandfather in the 1950’s.

The man simply carries a life long grudge. He seethes within. D’Souza calls him the “last anti-colonialist.” He hates living in the White House which to him is the center of Western Imperialism. Try to imagine Rush Limbaugh being elected president of the Soviet Union and having to live in the Kremlin. Kind of like that - lol.

Explains why he returned Churchill’s bust that was in the White House and approving the release of the Lockerbie bomber.

Here is a link to D’Souza’s book. The Amazon reviews are very enlightening as well.

I don't know if he feels so superior that he thinks he is blessing us by attempting to seize control of every aspect of our lives, or if he feels like an incompetent fraud in over his head and assumes the rest of us are as bad.

Both, with a slight adjustment. The former is the feelings he recognizes. The latter if you remove the "and assumes..." part. The superiority pose is compensating for how worthless he believes himself to be. Barry is one sick puppy. To him, we are all just toys to manipulate in order to make him feel better. That includes his family, too.

Mark, the pressure on Obama to get out and cede to Hillary or Biden is, once again, yet another Carter Paradigm (re: the Swimmer’s 1980 primary insurgency) lining up to be validated next November. Incredible how history repeats itself.

Read it, too.
Great little book.

Amongst the many fascinating things about his observations, he notes that most ‘intellectuals’ tend to be only children, and narcissistic.

WILLIE GEIST: Hey Jon, historically, do we romanticize the relationship presidents and Congress have? We talk a lot about Reagan and Tip O'Neill and all these relationships. Is President Obama's--let's call it a lack of relationship with Congress--is it exceptional? Is it worse than normal?

JON MEACHAM: It's a little worse than normal. Because even though he was there, my sense is he doesn't particularly like people and politicians who don't like people are kinda in the wrong business.

HAROLD FORD, JR.:Kinda.

MEACHAM: Kinda. I really believe this. So, Reagan wanted to perform for people. So you could bring him in, and he, it would be a small audience. George H.W. Bush: all of his life was one long reunion mixer. Bill Clinton, uh, loved people. So I think this is a personality distinction.

Great find. Mort Zuckerman made the same point last month:

'It's as if he doesn't like people," says real-estate mogul and New York Daily News owner Mortimer Zuckerman of the president of the United States. Barack Obama doesn't seem to care for individuals, elaborates Mr. Zuckerman, though the president enjoys addressing millions of them on television.

I don't know if the "depth psychology" really ads much beyond what they've said.
