LA Mayor Gives Occupy LA 10,000 Square Feet of Office Space & Farmland for $1-a-Year

It was just last week that an #Occupy LA protester was arrested for masturbating on the steps of City Hall. Now the squatters are getting their own private office building.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has decided to award the lawlessness, lewd acts, shoplifting and drug use of the Occupy LA squatters. He just offered the hooligans 10,000 square feet of downtown office space and farmland for $1-a-year. The LA Times reported:

Los Angeles officials have offered Occupy L.A. protesters a package of incentives that includes downtown office space and farmland in an attempt to persuade them to abandon their camp outside of City Hall, according to several demonstrators who have been in negotiations with the city.

The details of the proposal were revealed Monday during the demonstration’s nightly general assembly meeting by Jim Lafferty, an attorney with the National Lawyers Guild who has been advocating on behalf of the protest since it began seven weeks ago.

Lafferty said city officials have offered protesters a $1-a-year lease on a 10,000-square-foot office space near City Hall. He said officials also promised land elsewhere for protesters who wish to farm, as well as additional housing for the contingent of homeless people who joined the camp.

A spokesman for the mayor would not comment on the proposal, saying only: “We are in negotiations with organizers of Occupy L.A.”

This could become hilarious. Imagine what would happen if you got, say, a 200 acre foreclosed spread, threw in a wooden barracks ranch house, free irrigation and seed, as well as hand tools. All set up to farm, just add hard work and everything you grow is yours, you freaks, tax free.

And put about 50 OWS types on it. BIG fence, to like “keep them safe”, or something.

It could even be a reality show: Lord of the Flies, II.

Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru)? Now on pay-per-view.

How much farmland does the City of L.A. own?

Doesn't matter. After New London, they'll just take it... and give it away.

The little scum sucking Villaraigosa would’ve been out years ago if the apathy in L.A. was so strong. People in Los Angeles just don’t give a crap. So let them reap what they sow.

Farm land? What are they going to raise, hemp??

At only 10,000 sq.ft it implies a greenhouse

“We are in negotiations with organizers of Occupy L.A.”
Sorry, but if I was the mayor I’d have to say, “We don’t negotiate with terrorists”

So, anyway, when does the TEA Party get our 10K of office space and some farmland???

I’d like to see them give the OWS bums 10,000 square feet of space in a prison.

....Unfortunately leaders of the Occupy LA movement were unable to secure the capital to pay the $1. :)

Ruh-oh. John & Ken are going to blow a gasket over this! They already hate ‘Tony Villar’ and think he’s an absolute tool.

Looks like the Tea Party just got 10,000 sq ft of office space and some farm land for $1/yr in LA. Just need to go file the paperwork.

Farming is actually work. I’d be surprised if that part of the offer went anywhere.

So the mayor of LA owns 10k sq ft of downtown office space and, an undetermined amount of farmland... It’s really nice of him to forfeit HIS property to the squatters. Apparently the mayor of LA is independently wealthy.

More great campaign material ready to go for next year.
A liberal Democrat giving in to lawless; filthy hippies. Creating a squatters camp with city resources; sure to crime and disease ridden.

Come on California conservatives; go after these crooks.

Isn’t this just like negotiating with terrorists? What’s wrong with these people (and I’m not talking about the occupiers this time).

You don't understand L.A. politics. Tony Villar, the Mayor, would be out demonstrating with the rowdies if he didn't have his political career to think of. His goal is to become CA governor so he can essentially make the state part of Mexico.

He was a labor organizer before entering politics (sound familiar?) and served as national co-chairman of Hillary's 2008 presidential campaign. He was also a member of Obama's Transitional Economic Advisory Board.

I college he was very active with M.E.Ch.A., the student movement of Aztlan devoted to promoting Chicano unity and empowerment through political action. A passage from its national website says: "As Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlan, we are a nationalist movement of Indigenous Gente that lay claim to the land that is ours by birthright. As a nationalist movement we seek to free our people from the exploitation of an oppressive society that occupies our land."
