Cops: Woman admitted she choked her father

A Cambridge woman, who police say admitted to choking her 62-year-old father in a dispute over one of her children, was held without bail on assault charges after her father was found dead.

Gylene Verna, 29, pleaded not guilty in Cambridge District Court to assault and battery and assault and battery on a police officer in connection with the death Sunday of Guy Verna. She is being held pending a Nov. 29 dangerousness hearing.

I sort of wonder about this case. The woman saw “poop” stains in her son’s underwear and felt suspicious about the father molesting him. I’m not saying she isn’t a crazy kook but IF grampy did molest her son... he got what was coming to him.

If people are allowed to choke to death everybody they thought might have molested their child because of skid marks in their underwear we would have milions of death a day.

Neighbor Alemneshe Gebremariam called the father a “nice guy” who would always say hello when he visited, but said she and her children were afraid of his daughter. Gebremariam said she once invited Gylene Verna in for tea, and Verna took her Bible and flung it across the floor, saying that she was a prophet and that God was coming “tomorrow.” Another time, she said, Verna doused Gebremariam’s door and window with olive oil to ward off the devil.

This is definitely one person I would not list among my “Likes” as a friend.

If he did that is true.
But the neighbor testimonies show her to be unstable.

Not that the two possibilities are mutually exclusive. If he was a pedophile when she was a kid one might expect her to be a bit loopy now, especially if finances had forced her to live in his home again.

The children should probably be evaluated.

I agree. I am sure they can tell if that little boy has gotten molested. This case sort of reminds me of the saying, “Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean that someone isn’t following you”. I feel sorry for the two children.
