Illinois House Creates Task Force to Explore Possibility of Right-to-Carry Law!

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

During the General Assembly’s veto session on November 9, the Illinois House of Representatives passed House Resolution 550, which creates the Firearm Public Awareness Task Force.

The purpose of this task force is to explore the possibility of a Right-to-Carry law in Illinois.  HR 550 stipulates that the NRA will be represented on the task force. Through this position, we will continue intend to educate the Illinois legislature on the importance of Right-to-Carry.  It is time for the Land of Lincoln to join the rest of the nation in allowing law-abiding gun owners to carry a firearm for personal protection when away from home.

As this task force meets we will keep you apprised of ways in which you can help promote Right-to-Carry in Illinois.

If they can't pay for an editor, can't someone do proofreading on a rotating basis?

BTW, there's nothing about concealed carry.

I think that right-to-carry is how they addressed the issue of concealed carry. This is a good first step.

Didn’t think this would ever happen. Let’s see what transpires.

I don't think it will ever happen. This is Chicago we are talking about. I was in the fight for some time and we weren't gaining traction. The only way I can see it happening is if the new lawsuit is ruled in favor of the 2nd amendment. Mcdonald was a hallmark case, but we gotta keep suing the pants of these bureaucrats.

Concealed Carry is Right To Carry. This is good news and if it wasn’t for opposition from Chicago, a RTC law would have been adopted in IL years ago. Hopefully, the Land Of Lincoln will stop being the anomalous hold out on the Second Amendment in the Midwest.

That’s what people said about WI. A victory like this isn’t won overnight. It’ll take years of dogged and hard work but it will happen. Now its just a question of when IL will come around to it.

Let’s go straight to Constitutional Carry and cut out the middleman.

I know, I live in America’s East Berlin. But, I know seven very liberal ladies who recently enjoyed a weekend of trap shooting and want to go again.

Gun control, Illinois-style, is over.

It will be difficult for Cook County Democrats to arm blacks. You know it will lead to trouble. Once they have gun rights they might start wandering off the plantation in search of other rights.

*** It will be difficult for Cook County Democrats to arm blacks. You know it will lead to trouble. ***

In Crook County (aka: Chicago) the blacks are already armed. And why not? .. they never get charged under the strict Federal Gun laws but on city, county & state statutes. So they pay the $50.00 fine (/s) and continue to carry, then repeat as necessary. (year after year, Chi has the lowest number of gun crime cases -- in the entire nation --- that are turned over to the Feds for prosecution)

The problem would come in having blacks be able to 'Legally' carry since 'every adult male' is a convicted felon(1).

(1) per a Jesse Jackson speech/rant on voting rights. He said a felony record is part of 'a black man's rite of passage'. (yep he really is a moron)

I agree with you on that point: We need to keep suing until Chicago learns that it is not a separate country with different laws. Please take some time to get involved in the fight as it is important, particularly in Chicago, “shooting gallery of the World”.

Hopefully the situation will change, but it is going to be slow and steady as she goes. I never dreamed that we would end up with all but one state with CHL, but it has happened due to efforts such as yours.
