While we may disagree with Obama, we are still a family of Americans,

Everyday it gets harder and harder for me to believe this. He makes little to no effort to be part of the American family other than for what he can take from us or what power he thinks he can hold over us.

I somehow have no problem with burning him or any other deaf, blind and stupid politician in effigy. Their kind of willful disrespect of the people has consequences. Respect must flow both ways to some degree.

When she was in kindergarten, our grand daughter wrote to Laura Bush. She was making a pie chart of favorite Thanksgiving pies for a math project and asked what was the President’s favoirite. She received a huge packet from the WH with recipes, pictures and a lovely letter signed by Laura Bush. The letter thanked her father for his service. The family were living in Germany at the time as her father was stationed there. The letter is treasured by our grand daughter, who is now 11.

Exercising free speech. No crime.

I believe they have “Harvest Festival” in September. That would have been the precursor of our Thanksgiving.

I guess the burning of an effigy of Guy Fawkes every November the 5th all over the UK doesn't count...:^)

Sadly a custom now much in decline. In the last decade or so it's rapidly been replaced in the public conciousness by Hallowe'en, a festival which was hitherto almost entirely unrecognised here in Britain. Largely a result of American cultural imperialism, it has to be said...:). My generation had to have 'trick or treat' explained to them the first time urchins came knocking on the door a few years back...before then it was always 'penny for the guy?'

It’s free speech, but it’s creepy and it doesn’t help anything and I don’t like it.

I’d like to know where burning in effigy came from? Ancient Celts? Romans? Goths? Why does this ritual persist in modern life?

The leftists beat an effigy pinata of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, in front of a bookstore, here in Arizona. Then, paraded the head around. The leftist media didn’t care.

What a great story, and certainly something special for your granddaughter to hand down to her children. Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

PS - Do Brits celebrate Thanksgiving?

When I lived in the UK they would tell us they do celebrate Thanksgiving.

The Americans celebrate the pilgrims leaving England and the blessings Gad has given them, the British just celebrate that they left.

Yes they are real.

$19.95 on Amazon

A guy at work has one.

I remember howling with laughter when I first saw the commercial for them. They were so over the top gushing over the POS that it had to be a joke.

I'm convinced that they were made as a slam at 0bama, but they knew they could sell them to the idiots that elected him and convince them that it was a great honor to be commemorated as a Chia Pet.

Oops, sorry. You were referring to the bowling lanes.

Nevermind.

Still, the Chia 0bama is pretty funny.
