The Gingrich Amnesty
NRO ^ | Nov 23, 2011 | Mark Krikorian

Missed the debate because of wrestling practice, but it’s hardly surprising that Newt would support amnesty for illegal aliens. After the Pelosi global-warming ad and Dede Scozzafava and “right-wing social engineering,” is it any surprise he’d adopt the left’s line on immigration too? He earned a career grade of D from Numbers USA (they calculate back to 1989). Heck, even Barbara Boxer has a career grade of D+.

.. So the Gingrich Amnesty would cover illegal immigrants here when Congress passed IRCA. That is to say, it would pick up where the previous amnesty left off, legalizing precisely those people who didn’t qualify for IRCA. This just underlines what a chump you have to be to support any deal offered you by amnesty supporters.

Which is why “enforcement first” is the only way to go: consistent, unapologetic, across-the-board enforcement of the immigration law at our consulates overseas for visa applicants, at the borders, and inside the country, especially at the worksite — without preconditions or deals or grand bargains.

Yeah, and we cannot go to moon either.
This is BS.

First, we build a fence making it more difficult to enter here illegally.
Then, we mandate and enforce E-Verify and additional laws (such as enforcement actions in AZ, AL) and accelerate deportations. We can deport every illegal that is caught eg. in hospital.

Then we can change the law making it clear that no illegal can ever get citizenship nor can sponsor, ever. This is important to prevent chain-immigration.

Many will self-deport them and what is most importat, it will reduce future illegals. We continue to deport people that are caught.

Pushing amnesty (perry/newt) style is dishonest and fundamentally wrong. It doesn’t solve anything and it would only lead to further illegals entering here.

Newt just did a "Perry" on himself, took pressure off Romney and resurrected Herman Cain.

This is the kind of thing that scares people about Newt. Every so often he just lurches off to the left side of the road.

Here is what I want my candidate to say on the illegal issue:

"It is inhumane to NOT deport illegal immigrants who came to the United States over the last 25 years.

To NOT deport illegals means the government will continue to extort money from hard working, struggling, legal taxpaying citizens to provide government benefits for these illegals.

It also means that these illegals will continue to hold jobs that citizens need and to place costly burdens on schools, colleges, hospitals and other medical facilities."

Newt proves once again that he’s the Tony Romo of politics: dazzling most of the time, infuriatingly incompetent late in the game.

Part of Newt’s plan is for the states to stop their programs that allow ‘free loading’. He believes in states rights...if you live in a state that encourages illegals by paying to send their children to school, provides a certain amount of welfare, food stamps etc. then the problem is really yours.....isn’t it. As the man said, ‘the devil is in the details.......

In 1993, Newt Gingrich endorsed and supported Amnesty for Illegal Aliens.

In 2011, Newt Gingrich endorsed and supported the Dream Act.

For almost 20 years, Newt Gingrich has endorsed and supported illegal immigrants.

If someone unauthorized chooses to illegally break into your house, it is a FELONY. If someone burglarizes your home and then decides to move in and stay as a squatter, the act is still a FELONY,

If someone unauthorized chooses to break into America, it is a FELONY. If someone burglarizes your country and decides to move in and stay for 20 or 25 years as a squatter, the act is still a FELONY.

Illegal aliens are long term FELONS. Aside from burglary, illegal aliens are breaking the law in several ways;

1.) Illegal aliens are stealing identities. (ID theft is a felony.)

2.) Illegal aliens are evading paying taxes. (Tax evasion is a felony.)

3.) Illegal aliens use facilities paid for by residents such as schools and hospitals. (Theft of facilities from others is a FELONY.)

There should never be any, "Yeah, but" replies.

Feel free to post the above as your own, on any liberal web sites.

Have you listened to the details of Newt’s plan?

Did you listen to Mitt’s response on Immigration last night?

Mitt and Newt are on the same page, but Newt has more details on how to go about implementing it.

In fact Newt is one of the few people in America who IS dealing with reality on the subject.

It’s easy to label and react.
Reading, research, and thought, take time and effort.

“”let’s be humane in enforcing the law WITHOUT GIVING THEM CITIZENSHIP””

Why can’t we first enforce the laws and build a fence, and only then, if those have been successful, consider further actions?

Every amnesty idea is always pushed so that few nice illegals get some benefits and there will aggressive enforcement. There never is any enforcement and leftists courts and administration always extend and enlarge the amnesty. If they get legal status, then in the next phase they would demand citizenship (and in anycase, they would be able to get it easier if they already have legal status).

Perry and Newt are unacceptable. I was hoping that Newt would moderate his radical views, but he doubling-down just like Perry.

Illegal immigration is a serious problem and our approach can’t be all or nothing, because we end up with nothing. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Newt mentioned just that by referencing Reagans attempt...

....We signed the "Simpson-Mazzoli Act".... Ronald Reagan, in his diary, says he signed it – and we were supposed to have 300,000 people get amnesty. There were 3 million. But he signed it BECAUSE we were going to get two things in return...... We were going to get control of the border and we were going to get a guest worker program with employer enforcement....“We got neither.....

So I think you’ve got to deal with this as a comprehensive approach that STARTS WITH with controlling the border

Less than current cost from the parasites. Do you have any clue how much they cost now?

Besides, we do not have to deport 100%. If there is reasonable threat that they can be deported, they would lose less services, and would be less likely to stay here (or enter here).

When did American become “it can’t be done” country?

So glad someone posted what he actually said. Personally I’d like to deport all of them, and their families. However, as Newt pointed out, that is just not going to happen, the country is not prepared to do it. So, what’s the alternative? I thought Newt’s idea was pretty good, it is something that is actually doable and it is not amnesty. You have to live in the real world rather than basing your future on the unicorn ranch you are going to build.

Well...in Arizona there are a lot less illegals coming to the emergency rooms in the first place....they all SELF DEPORTED thensselves ...and their spawn.

That's the problem. Coming into the country illegally is not a felony; it's a misdomeaner so that it doesn't require the lengthy, expensive court process that a felony would.

I hear ya, though. Time to toss folks out.

Newt is just like Perry when it comes to amnesty. He just don't get it.

More shocking is the number of FReepers who just don't get it, or are in denial after having been seduced by the Pied Piper of politics in the debates. Newt is just an illusion, people. I know it hurts, but now PLEASE take a close look at his horrific record - whether in 1979, as one of only 29 Republicans (mostly N.E. RINOs) to vote for Jimmy Carter's Department of Education, or in 2007, when he agreed with John Kerry that the Federal gov't needed to "urgently" take action to stop global warming, on which Newt said "the evidence is sufficient" that man is the cause.

Closing the border is what need to be done. The people here can be dealt with.
Sending them back or not sending them back; is kind of a moot discussion with a open border.

There should never be nay compromise about about controlling and closing our border. It is a national security issue.
I think good people can have different opinions about how to handle the ones here; assuming we have closed the border.

Show me a plan or a study that shows how 12 mil are going to be deported/self-deport.

Shut down freebies and stop employment for illegals. A large number will deport themselves when the jobs and handouts go away. That will significantly reduce the size of the problem.

Then deport those who seek emergency medical treatment (after they have been treated).

Then deport anyone who comes in contact with law enforcement for any reason.

That will cause another large self-exodus. Not many will want to live here when they can't generate income or get handouts and free (to them) services. It won't eliminate the problem but will bring it to managable size.

By the way, have you noticed that seven or eight years ago, back when George Bush was pushing Shamnesty, we were told by the federal government and the media that there were 12 million illegals here with about 1/2 to 1 million more entering each year.

Yet, over the last year or so we have still been told there are only 12 million illegals here.

Now some say the number is down to 11 million.

If we just wait long enough the federal government will report they are all gone and the problem will cease to exist.

/s
