I spoke with Stephanie about how the economy is affecting young women. Beside dealing with long term unemployment, the "jobless" economy is affecting how young men and women perceive each other. Many are putting off marriage and reassessing relationships. Many young women are investing free time with giving emotional support to their friends and seeking stronger ties with their existing families.

Difficult for guys to “close the sale” when they are living in the basement of their mom and dad’s.

Gold diggers and useless eaters need not apply. No practical skills...get lost.

Translation: Moving back home for free room and board after matriculating at a university that charged way too much for the worthless education you received. Good old Mom and Dad won’t let you live under a bridge.

This past summer I saw a clip on a news program where a reporter asked a random California housewife what she would do if there was a major economic collapse and the young woman (literally) shrugged and replied, “Meditate, I guess.”
