Rep. King denounces Gingrich immigration plan as 'amnesty
The Hill ^ | 112311 | Justin Sink

Influential congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) said Wednesday that presidential candidate Newt Gingrich's immigration plan was a "form of amnesty" and that he disagreed with it, adding to the chorus of critics from the right.

In Tuesday's GOP foreign policy debate, Gingrich said he would support an immigration policy that would allow illegal immigrants who had lived in the United States for a long time, obeyed the law, and paid their taxes to become permanent residents.

“I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people who’ve been here for a quarter of a century … [and] separate them from their families and expel them,” Gingrich said. “I do believe we should control the border. I do believe we should have very severe penalties.”

He went on to say that he believed his policy to be the "humane" one.

Actually, it’s worse than that. It’s unworkable. It shows the fundamental problem with Grigrich. He does not understand the real world.

To be fair to Gingrich, he doesn't actually have an immigration plan, does he?

He was just basically flapping his lips spouting talking points that ran the gamut from amnesty to tar-and-feathering is the way I heard it.

I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people who’ve been here for a quarter of a century … [and] separate them from their families and expel them,” Gingrich said.

I believe that remark cost him the republican nomination and therefore the presidency because if the nominee is anybody but Romney, that republican is going to be the next president.

Imagine what that 11 million (ROTFL! Yeah. Right!) are going to do to the cost of ObarryCare. I’ll bet that never dawned on any of those morons on Capitol Hill. Politicians are greedy, narcissistic pigs.

Whatever we do, if we allow some people who illegally came here to stay, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES can we allow them to vote or hold public office.

That is not only the price they must pay (in addition to any other condition of being allow to stay here legally), but it is also to deny any political group the reward for the pandering to illegals in the hope they would once become voters.

First I was “heartless”. Now, I’m “inhumane”.

Apparently, these multi-millionaire politicians never visit my world, where illegals have taken 40% of my family’s income off the table over the last six or seven years, and have nearly forced us out of business.

I was born here, as were my father, and his father, and his - back to before the founding of this nation. I thought this was my country, and that I had a right to work hard and build a decent life for my wife and kids.

I guess not. Gingrich and Perry have decided that it’s fit and proper to ‘redistribute’ my birthright.

Yeah, because Gingrich's remark should go down the same memory hole that THE REST OF HIS CAREER seems to have gone with many conservatives.

I guarantee you, if you hitch yourself to this guy, when it really counts, when you really need him, when you are depending on him for a vote or public comment or behind-the-scenes persuasion to advance the cause, he will be tongue-kissing a liberal or himself or some "brilliant, transformational" notion that just popped into his head.

I say this after experiencing dozens of such disappointments/betrayals from this guy over 20 years.

Trust Gingrich = certain heartbreak.

The Newt Gringo bots can’t deny the facts so they complain about the number of threads on this topic. I guess the so-called leading republican candidate being pro-amnesty isn’t a topic worth discussing...

I applaud Rep. King for being a true conservative patriot standing against Newt’s amnesty plan. Hopefully this helps end him in Iowa.

Sometimes King is an a@@. He lacks the intelligence to read what Newt was talking about. Never was amnesty even a part of it.

And Mr. King's plan is???? Easy to criticize but not so easy to come up with a workable plan for an impossible problem. This old crap about , “just send them all back to Mexico” is out to lunch. 11 million or more? Give me a break if you think you can pull that one off. Why not just send the “Bladerunners” after them and kill them? (sarcasm of course). I'm not for amnesty either but don't ask me what to do with them. What ever it is, it's going to cost a bundle of money that we are borrowing from someone else.

Newt just wants to replace all the aborted American babies with Mexicans..
Quite simple really..

As does most of the republican candidates and Negrodamus as well..

Michele Bachmann is not going for “it”...course she is the ONLY conservative..
No wonder.!... she is attacked like the Good Witch of the West(of OZ)..
She(Bachmann) has “red shoes” and can bring America back from the brink...

The men candidates are all “Mad Hatters” except Ron Paul.. hes the drunken mouse..
AND a Happy UNbirthday to you all!!!..
