No (expletive deleted) Sherlock! New sanctions = buying time for the Iranians.

Because the Obama administration is unwilling to do anything that will stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons, along with the fact that China and Russia will continue to help Iran thwart the consequences of any serious sanctions, Bolton says that the most likely outcome at this point is that Iran will end up with nuclear weapons:

There has never been any doubt they would.

When they have them they are likely to use them too.

Exactly, but try telling that to their sympathizers.

I keep hoping we’ve got another Stuxnet like secret weapon that can be turned loose even if Obama and Holder don’t know about it. Or the Israelis...but they might turn loose with something a whole lot more destructive

Wouldn’t that be a beautiful exclamation point to Obamas time in office?

“..then the economy tanked even more and then WW3 started!”

This whole discussion is a red herring. Why worry about Iran when the Taliban already have nukes at their disposal?

In 2009 the Taliban was within 60 miles of Islamabad and ready to take down Pakistans government and grab the nukes.

The MUZZIE in Chief sent that evil degenerate bitch Clinton over there to tell Musharaff to man up for appearance sake, but the Taliban is biding their time. waiting for their brother in the WH to pull US forces out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Then they swoop in and grab the Pak nukes.

Iran is just trying to play catch up.

Nobody is going to war over muzzies with nukes, they already have them and they will be in Taliban hands within 3 years, and there’s not a godammned thing anybody can do about it, especially those phony SOB’s in DC

Taliban creating ‘safe haven’ in heart of Pakistan

A peace deal between Taliban militants and the Pakistani government could create a safe haven for al-Qaeda to plan attacks on British and American forces in Afghanistan, Western officials said on Thursday.

They voiced their fears after Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, told the Pakistani government that it had “no choice” but to challenge Taliban militants pushing closer to the capital Islamabad.

Her comments intensified pressure on the Pakistani government just 24 hours after she accused Islamabad of “abdicating to the Taliban” and said the situation there “poses a mortal threat to the security and safety of our country and the world”.

Washington and Islamabad are at loggerheads over the Pakistani government’s “peace deal” with Taliban militants in the Swat Valley, where it has agreed to introduce Sharia law in return for the Taliban ending its insurgency there. Its ministers insist they are still in control and that they need to bring “reconcilable Taliban” into the political process.

One Western diplomat said a safe haven in the Swat Valley, just 60 miles from Islamabad, would be potentially more dangerous than those in the tribal areas close to the Afghan border because it has better communications and infrastructure. “There’s a doomsday scenario where the real concern is that they establish a foothold in this part of northern Pakistan to launch attacks on Afghanistan, India and the West,” he said.

A spokesman for the Taliban in Swat said earlier this week that Osama bin Laden and other leading Taliban figures would be welcomed in Swat as “brothers”, as would militants fighting British and American forces in Afghanistan.

According to Western diplomats in Islamabad, the Pakistani government has effectively ceded complete control of Swat and neighbouring Buner, where, they claim, the district administration, local police force and courts no longer function.

Pakistani officials deny the charge, but yesterday sent eight platoons of paramilitary troops to shore up its rule in the district. Local politicians said the area was already in the Taliban’s grip, while Amnesty International made a strongly worded attack on the Pakistani government over its failure to protect local people.

“The Pakistani government is fiddling as the North West Frontier Province burns,” said Sam Zarifi, its Asia-Pacific director.

He said just 500 militants were terrorising 650,000 people and had banned music, ordered men to grow beards and forced all girls over the age of seven to wear burkas. They had also looted houses and stolen cars belonging to local aid groups.

“The government has not given any sense of how it intends to protect the rights of hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis who are now subject to the repressive rule of the Taliban, just in the shadow of the capital,” he added.

Residents of Buner, which has a population of 500,000, said that the area was no longer in government control and many people had fled.

“The situation is terrible,” said Istiqbal Khan, the local member of parliament, who said he could not go to his constituency.

“They have overrun Buner. But if the army is deployed, I fear a conflict will begin. We must negotiate with the Taliban.”

Armed Taliban fighters are patrolling Buner, forcing police and the local administration to leave or remain inside their buildings. Courts and government offices have closed.

An anti-Taliban militia, which had been raised by the people of Buner and had managed to keep the extremists at bay for months, was dissolved after failing to get government backing, locals complained. The militia leaders recently fled for their lives.

“They have taken over my home and ransacked it. Other homes too,” said a local councillor from Buner, who escaped to Peshawar.

“The police are nowhere to be seen. People don’t dare come out of their homes. The whole of Buner is in their (Taliban) grip.

“I appeal to the government to do whatever is required to restore its writ.”

Iran has nukes—they will use them in someway—Let Hamas do the deed—sneak em in and blow up part of Israel. They Bomb Israel—it means war. Maybe World War. If it starts with Nukes—it will end with nukes and a world with a lot less people in it.

Has there ever been a case in recorded history where sanctions have actually worked?
