(ENGLISH TRANSLATION): US Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich, Republican, For The Regularization of Immigration Status for Millions" In the Al Momento Noticias by El Molino - 11/23/2011 8:36 AM
Two things became clear after the conclusion of the eleventh televised debate of Republican candidates, that Newt Gingrich is emerging in the polls, Mitt Romney moving to, and that he understands the importance of the Latino vote in United States to reach the White House in 2012.
Last night, risking the wrath of the Tea Party rightwing who have set the tone on immigration in the debates, Gingrich took a position which he described as "humanitarian."
We reproduce his words, that rule this time there were the boos he received when Rick Perry also said many Republicans "have no heart" on the issue of immigration.
I do not understand how the party that claims to be the party of the family can take a position on immigration that destroys families who have been here a quarter century. And I'm prepared to accept criticism by saying, 'we are human to implement the law without giving them citizenship but finding a way to create no separate legal status for their families.' "
"I do not think that the people of United States going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are part of the community who may have done something 25 years ago, separated from their families and drive them away.
"If you came recently, and you have no roots in this country, then you must go. But here is the point. But let's say the person has been here 25 years, has three children, two grandchildren, pays taxes, respects the law, is part of a local church - I do not think they're were are going to split up, cut and eject such a family.
"The Krieble Foundation has a magnificent red card program that says it can be legalized without being a path to citizenship. So we managed to have a country where there is no illegality, without any amnesty given automatically to anyone. "
Later Gingrich said:
"I want to tell the people, 'go home'. I want to create a border controlled. I want a guest worker program that can manage American Express, Visa or Mastercard. I want to make English the official language of government. I am willing to be rigid. But I will not pull on somebody's hair and tease them. And I can not imagine any serious person in this country who believes that we must destroy families who have been here 20 or 25 years."
Newt Gingrich has spoken in favor of some aspects of the DREAM Act, which would give citizenship to people who came to the United States without documentation of children.
Were Gingrich to get the Republican nomination, this new political perspective poses serious problems for the reelection of President Barack Obama not long ago who said his "strategy" is to get the Latino vote would only reproduce extracts from comments of the Republican candidates on immigration.
"Presidenciales EUA, precandidato republicano Newt Gingrich a favor de regularización estatus migratorio de millones"
Translation: US Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich, Republican, For The Regularization of Immigration Status for Millions"
We have seen this word "regularization" many times in the South of the Border press, used by both President Bush and President Fox, and a euphemism for "amnesty" for illegal aliens. To "regularize" them to stay in the United States.
Bump in full agreement.
In door #36 “YES”! You my friend have been here long enough to win ‘AMNESTY’!!! Ding,Ding,Ding
There are many more legal Latino’s in this country than illegals. The legal immigrants went through a long but proper process, and others were born on US soil as citizens by birth. I am not convinced majority of legal residents and citizens are in favor of amnesty to illegals.
6. Create a path to earned legality for some of the millions of people who are here outside the law.
No thanks, Newt. That's amnesty.
“There are many more legal Latinos in this country than illegals. The legal immigrants went through a long but proper process, and others were born on US soil as citizens by birth. I am not convinced majority of legal residents and citizens are in favor of amnesty to illegals.”
Well, I’m convinced you embrace conservativism!
Well, I have to ask...how would that logically happen?
I had to do a “think” before I even posted the question because I know what fire it will draw.
I appreciate the passion and agree.
But in the p.c. world in which we live...
How would it happen?
Maybe I’m confused.
I thought that Newt said that those who would be allowed to stay would be treated like migrant immigrants, who have been legal for years.
(In fact, the legal migrant workers have suffered because the illegals have been taking their jobs.)
I thought that he would not be in favor of citizenship for these folks, though.
Am I wrong about that?
Read Newt's 10 Steps to a Legal Nation paying attention to section 6.
“We need a system that enforces the rule of law, ensures that those who broke the law pay a stiff penalty, but also acknowledges that it is neither optimal nor feasible nor humane to deport every single illegal immigrant.
We need a path to legality, but not citizenship, for some of these individuals who have deep ties to America, including family, church and community ties. We also need a path to swift but dignified repatriation for those who are transient and have no roots in America.”
From your link...
“We need a path to legality, but not citizenship...”
“6. Create a path to earned legality for some of the millions of people who are here outside the law.
There are currently anywhere from 8 to 12 million people living in the United States who entered illegally.
These people range from day laborers who arrived recently, to grandparents who have been paying taxes, supporting their families and obeying the law for decades.
We need a system that enforces the rule of law, ensures that those who broke the law pay a stiff penalty, but also acknowledges that it is neither optimal nor feasible nor humane to deport every single illegal immigrant.
We need a path to legality, but not citizenship, for some of these individuals who have deep ties to America, including family, church and community ties. We also need a path to swift but dignified repatriation for those who are transient and have no roots in America.
We need a process that can distinguish at the human level.
Congress must charge the Department of Justice to establish a citizens review process for those here outside the law. It would establish committees to process these cases in individual communities and determine who will continue on this path to legality, and who will be sent home. Congress must define understandable, clear, objective legal standards that will be applied equally during this process. While this process is ongoing, those here outside the law will be granted Temporary Legal Status for a certain, limited period of time until all have had the opportunity to apply and appear in front of committees.
Applicants must first pass a criminal background check, and then the local committees will assess applications based on family and community ties, and ability to support oneself via employment without the assistance of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other entitlement programs.
The government will rigorously enforce a requirement that all individuals seeking this path to legality must be able to prove that they can independently pay for private health insurance. If an individual cannot prove this, they will lose the ability to stay in the United States.
Furthermore, proficiency in English within a certain number of years, similar to the requirement for naturalization, will be required for anyone who seeks continued legal status in the United States.
Once an applicant has been granted the right to obtain legal status, he or she will have to pay a penalty of at least $5,000.
Moving forward, those who receive this status will have to prove on a regular basis that they can support themselves without entitlement programs and pay for health insurance or else risk the ability to stay in the United States.
“6. Create a path to earned legality for some of the millions of people who are here outside the law.”
You didn’t read any further than that, did you? ;o)
“We need a system that enforces the rule of law”
If Newt's plan allows ILLEGAL aliens to stay legally in this country that is amnesty. It does, and that's all I need to know.
You know that Newt said that, don’t you?
Yes, I did. And Newt's plan is amnesty.
From my reading of what Newt has said, it’s not amnesty.
None of them will be made citizens, as was the original Bush amnesty plan.
In the PNW, we have a lot of legal migrant workers. From what I’ve discerned, Newt wants to put these folks into that category.
It’s so good to see you!
Oh, well...I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
Just so you know, I am not a fan of Newt’s. I guess I have interpreted what he has said differently than most.
Citizenship is not required for it to qualify as amnesty. Some invaders probably don't even want citizenship. But if they are afforded legal status, as opposed to the illegal status they have now, that is amnesty.
Thank you South40 for that link.
But actually, my question is..how should this problem be dealt with in today’s p.c. world?
The Operation Wetback of the 1950’s will not fly today. (Heck you can’t even say w#tb*ck in polite society..nor would I want to).
Do you think that there might be an alternative? And if so what?
For answers, we need look no further than Alabama.
Mexico destroys family not America.
It is a failed state.
Both the Alabama and Arizona attempts to enforce illegal immigration laws have been admirable, imo. They have forced their illegals to flee...to other states. The Feds have stymied their attempts to have any impact..
It is a Federal obligation to enforce this law. I think we agree on that.
But unless the Feds come up with a plan that will actually be enforceable..I don't see that there will be an answer that most in this country will support.
IMHO, end the anchor babies, chain migration, benefits to illegals, enforce employer penalties=self deportation. But that would have to happen on a national level.
But if people have been here most of their lives, paid taxes, took no public assistance...perhaps there should be some assistance. Not blanket amnesty. Not citizenship.
I have appreciated our civil discourse.:) Doesn't happen often these days.
There is no reason why it shouldn't. But you are right, it doesn't happen much and I appreciate it also.
Bedtime for Bonzo.
Have a good night.
You have a good night as well. :)
Young people used to go home for the holidays. To the house they grew up in and had so many fond memories. It felt good to be with your family and the friends you grew up with.
Now, young people go to their parents house for the holidays. Their house is theirs, you have no attachment to it or the neighborhood because Americans were forced to move out of Los Angeles when Mexicans moved in.
The old neighborhood is unrecognizable with the smell of tamales in the air on Christmas morning.
And Gingrich feels for the invaders.
Those who have come here through the Legal process, and have assimilated themselves to the American ways, who are loyal to America and the US Constitution we consider as Americans just like you and me.....
“Applicants must first pass a criminal background check”
How could any illegal pass such a check ? They entered the country ILLEGALLY or overstayed their visa ILLEGALLY! They have either NOT PAID TAXES, which is illegal, or they committed identity theft by using someone else’s SS#.
Either way, they have committed multiple crimes.
I’d like to think Newt is being clever to get the Latino vote, knowing nobody will actually qualify and must be deported after all. Unfortunately, I think it much more likely that any such “regularization” bill would amnesty them from any crimes RELATED to their being here illegally. So identity theft, fraud, tax evasion ... all will be forgiven as necessary to make this grand new amnesty plan workable. Only the most violent crimes will cause their rejection under this new amnesty.
Just because they don’t get citizenship doesn’t mean it isn’t amnesty. If they are not held accountable to the law as it existed at the time they violated it, they are getting amnesty. The law they violated REQUIRES deportation and anything else IS AMNESTY.
I say, putting more burdens on the tax payer who has had family here for generations, or was born here who abide by the law is what is called : heartless and inhumane.
I agree, send any illegal alien and their children home first, if they are on any public assistance.
Our government already knows where they live and knows the parents are illegal.
Either they didn’t pay taxes and are guilty of tax evasion, or they paid taxes using somebody else’s SS# which is fraud, perjury, and identify theft. Americans who commit these crimes are imprisoned, yet foreigners should get a free pass for doing the same thing ? So even the people who were brought here as children began breaking the law of their own choice when they became adults.
Yes, I did. And Newt’s plan is amnesty.
As Amnesty has been previously described, I disagree. It is not citizenship, voting rights and full benefits, however, if you listened to Rush on Wednesday, he opined, wondering just how long it would take the ACLU lawyers to file for the full monty. So there is much more to the issue.
I think the separating families talking point is a bastardized issue. To me it is an issue of choice. You have a choice, the illegal leaves, or you all leave. simple. After all if you chose to hook up with an illegal, you are part of the problem. I guess I’m heartless.
What could be more heartless than letting the country self destruct financially, because of an open border.
A system like Gingrich suggests is not humane: it sets up an entire class of people as non-citizens in our nation. That is wrong.
What this really is, is an attempt to appease businesses who use illegal alien labor, period.
If Gingrish cannot follow the law like any leader is supposed to instead of coming up with tortuous schemes to circumvent the law, then he isn’t worthy to be President of the U.S.A.
I just had to post this a second time. You stated this so clearly everyone should understand it. Thank you!
I think there can be an alternative name. How about Operation Repatriate. But it’s not the name that the illegals, special interests, traitorous business owners, and open border elites don’t like. It is the idea that we have a right to sovereignty and can close our borders that they really don’t like. But there are more voting americans than elites, special interests, and traitors. The same opposition existed in Eisenhower’s day exists today. No changes to the Constitution regarding this have been made since then. So I don’t see where there would be any problems using the same techniques now. And they were effective then.
We have a proven system. Rename it if we have to but we should use it.
The simple fact is that we currently have a “de facto” blanket amnesty in place already, and by making it official I believe there is hope the government can get what it really needs from the foreign invaders: contributions to Social Security so that Yanquis can retire, income taxes for federal & state coffers, and it would confer on the invaders the right to buy homes & cars (they’re not just let in to work, but to consume as well).
I don’t support amnesty, but I certainly don’t support the current inaction either. There is no doubt we can deport the 25 million+ that are already in this country; if we won’t do that, then let’s tax them so that they can contribute taxes for their children’s education, their fellow invaders’ welfare & food stamps, the healthcare they’ve destroyed in most areas they infest because of non-payment for treatment, etc.
It amazes and puzzles me as to how many city councils, mayors, police departments, governors, presidents, judges, congressmen and senators, have colluded in protecting these foreign invaders.
How is it possible that almost everyone elected, turns against their own citizens?
How is it possible that no one in government will collect the numbers of illegal aliens?
Newt told us in his CNN debate that they expected to give amnesty to 300,000 illegals and it turned out to be 3,000,000. But for the last 10 years we are told that we have 12,000,000 illegals even though there has never been a stoppage of border crossings, H1-B jumpers or students that overstay their visas?
“A system like Gingrich suggests is not humane: it sets up an entire class of people as non-citizens in our nation. That is wrong.”
They are already here, and set up with the freebies. Newt is proposing a system like the Germans use, where Turks who have been there for years are never granted citizenship - but they contribute to the tax base.
I don’t want amnesty, but inaction isn’t any more acceptable. Get them out, our tax them the way you do the people who currently pay for the housing, education, food stamps, etc. consumed by illegals. If “amnesty” is required for the latter, then do it.
I don’t want them here basically for the following reasons:
My biggest problems with illegals ... other than that they ARE illegal.
1. They come here to steal us blind- they ride the US gravy train with multiple identities which impoverished illegals buy for several thousand dollars each. Vote-crazed candidates do not directly address this outrage probably b/c illegals vote several times each, using forged and faked IDs. - ... but Perry wont touch it with a ten foot pole since he collapsed over his in-state tuition handouts. Neither can be trusted to do whats necessary....... cut out ALL benefits.
2. Illegals have no intention of becoming Americans. They pocket all the US benefits they can get, and want to force their culture on the rest of us. NO candidate EVER questions their loyalties........and the threat this poses to US Ntl security.
Do they really care about this country? Do they even understand this country beyond what they can GET from it. Read on.
DID PERRY MAKE A DEAL WITH LA RAZA to place Raza studies (Mexican-American studies) in Texas schools?
Raza studies have been taught in Arizona for a decade...... then they passed a law against it.... but it still goes on.
RAZA STUDIES One of the textbooks used is titled Occupied America, which was written by Rodolfo Acuña and includes a speech given by activist and university professor Jose Angel Gutierrez in which he says: We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him, (pg. 323). The book also talks about the need for Mexico to re-take seven states in the Southwestern United States.
The following rather shocking quotes are taken directly from Occupied America (pg. 167):
Supporters would execute all White Males over age 16, (also known as the Plan of San Diego).
The Southwest would become a Chicano nation.
In addition to using taxpayer funds to enforce such polarizing beliefs in Latino children in traditional public schools, the organization known as La Raza operates 100 charter schools across the country.
The following is a select list of La Raza charter schools:
-La Academia Semillas del Pueblo (Los Angeles)
-Atzlan Academy (Tucson, AZ)
-Mexicayotl Academy (Nogales, AZ)
-The Dolores Huerta Prepatory High School (Pueblo, CO)
-Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School (St. Paul, MN)
In 2005 alone, $7.9 million in taxpayer funding was given out to these charter schools in the form of U.S. Department of Education grants. These schools stress Latino culture, the Spanish language, the re-conquest of the American Southwest, the establishment of the mythical Atzlan, and even Aztec math.
Anyone who comes here legally to become a part of the United States, I welcome with open arms. To those who want to kill us, I will return the favor.
Then get them out; that is fine with me. The problem is that doing nothing has created a situation where the American taxpayer is saddled with the burden of “maintaining” these millions, to the point where Americans are all work & no breeding. The illegals are literally changing the complexion of this country. That would change if they were taxed instead of pampered with freebies paid for by American workers.
IMO my tagline predicts the outcome: The DemocRATic party preys on the ignorant!
These people are here for a reason, and that is to do away with the sovereignty of countries and ALL of our politicians are complicit.
Someone, somewhere decided that this is a One World Order whether or not we agree with it or not.
Andrew Stern calls it a One World Order and so does George Soros and the United Nations.
Our elected politicians have sold us out. We are a country of open borders with an obstacle course.
Just like Europe, we have to let anyone into our country that can cross that 5 mile mark from our border. That 5 mile mark is just a game, that border wall is part of the game. If an illegal can live without fear in our country, why have any obstacles to cross?
Why are people dying to cross a desert if all they have to do is get over that damn 5 mile mark? Why do we allow women to get raped and all their possessions stolen? Why are we supporting the cartels that smuggle people into our country?
A woman gets raped and all her possessions stolen. She gets across that 5 mile mark and we pay her for having a child, give her housing, food and daycare as long as she doesnt hook up with a man that works. Great system we have going on here.
“I thought that he would not be in favor of citizenship for these folks”
If they are given legal status they automatically become eligible to apply for citizenship.
And to be honest I don’t know how someone can justify amnesty without citizenship. Are they viewed as mere cheap labor who should not be allowed to vote? There really is no middle ground. If they stay they should have all the rights and responsibilities of a citizen so they can be assimilated. The alternative is to deport them, so they don’t become a drag to society.
There are at least 50 million ‘southern illegals’ in our country. We need to build a war and bus them back; immediately. Why are they lying????
