Press watchdog Reporters Without Borders urged media organisations on Friday to take care to protect female reporters from sexual assault while covering unrest in Egypt, following several serious attacks.

The group initially warned women journalists not to work in Cairo's Tahrir Square...It is more dangerous for a woman than a man to cover the demonstrations in Tahrir Square. That is the reality and the media must face it

...

On Thursday, French television reporter Caroline Sinz from the state network France 3 was subjected to a violent sexual assualt by a gang of young men and boys and her cameraman was beaten as they tried to cover the revolt.

I used to do circuit training at a UK gym for a SHORT time. What put me off was a group of ‘Asian’ men that would stand around the machines glaring and commenting on the women (including myself). Clinched it when two of them tried to follow me to the dressing room. VERY unnerving.

Proof that NOW doesn't care about women. Just ask the Clinton victims how much support NOW gave them. NOW and their like only care about one thing and that is abortion, not women.

The attack on Lara Logan of CBS earlier this year should have warned all females of the dangers.

I get the feeling that too many female journalists are naive liberals. They do not understand how women are treated in many parts of the world. They do not understand that they are going into a violent revolution. They do not understand that news reporters can become targets of the violence. They do not understand that Obama and the liberals are wrong, about this being a revolution to bring about parliamentary democracy and freedom to Egypt.

Do you mean Asian Asian or the British use of the PC version for North African Immigrants or any mohammedan youth?

What disturbs me most is their bosses sending them there in the first place knowing FULL WELL the dangers.

As a culture, Islam is never going to be held to account by liberals...the left is afraid...unlike conservatives who are lied about everyday by the left, and do nothing, Islam responds with violence.

Always remember...the left are cowards.

The British PC version. That’s why I put it in quotes. I was being facetious. :-)

Islam is not a religion. It is a way of life. And that way of life involves denigrating and demeaning women, brutalizing non-Muslims and spreading their cult by use of force and violence.

Every so-called “moderate” Muslim or “peaceful” Muslim is either a “sleeper” waiting to explode or the parent of a potential maniac.

The West must come to grips with its view of Islamic Reality. This people are NOT just another variety of Sikh, Buddhist, Hindu, whatever. They are members of a violent, intolerant, alien cult out to destroy the west, wipe out ALL religions and impose their cultural version of the Sahara Desert on the world.

Wait...what? "Leering?" I agree sexual assaults are a terrible risk for the journos to have to risk, but leering? The sensitivity meter is adjusted a bit too tightly when rapes are conflated with staring.

That used to be called "common sense".

We should have taken control of Egypt back during the Suez Crisis instead of going against Britain, and sent Nasser to a very dark prison cell. The whole "pan-Arabism" racist garbage was the beginnings of modern-day Islamic terrorism.

No; you're conflating leering with staring. Remember Matthew 5:28?

I'm afraid not. I don't make biblical references without explaining, and don't generally have use for those who do. Does that passage say quoting a news story is actually me reading something onto it? I admit the possibility. I just commented on what I read. How that makes me guilty of the author's sin is beyond my mortal little mind.

I think any female reporter who strolls out into a muslim riot is headed for trouble (much worse than leering), and far too many of them are willfully ignorant of this fact because of their liberal training.

Maybe because they're self-explanatory?

Yes, but the "leering" referenced wasn't directed at the female reporters (who are not Muslim women for the most part) but at Arab Muslim women—and on a daily basis. Leering and staring are not the same thing, never were, and never will be.

You must not have daughters. Situational awareness is paramount to keeping safe. If anything makes your, “spidey senses” tingle you SHOULD pay real close attention. The earlier you identify a possible threat the better you will be able to deal with it. (And, this should be taught to boys too!)

In that one sentence you proved my point. Thanks for the non-clarification, which is typical for Religion forum threads. I didn't know I was on one of those. Sorry.

I appear to be in the minority here, and any of you would be excellent HR employees at any given corporation. I will cease soiling your fine thread with my foolish attempt to get real, before you turn me in for sexual harassment.

No, you're missing the point again and conflating leering with staring—which was all I said in the first place. Please don't make mountains out of molehills.

Whatevah. I just thought it strange that an article about female journos risking rape would contain a discussion of sexual harassment. I’m odd, so leave it there.

I do think it’s a bit off-putting when you quote a chapter and verse from the bible as a reply to me, and then expect me to automatically know what you’re talking about (even after I asked you to explain). You see, I thought that was an exclusive feature of threads in the Religion Forum, but I guess I was the wrong one. FR must be becoming one giant Religion Forum, which would be a shame.

Since you are a non-Muslim, it would have been Ok{In their warped view} to attack you.
Islam and its followers have very strange views of women and sex. They want their women to be pure, but at the same time they defile women at the drop of a hat.
Never turn your back on these savages. You may get away with it once,or even a hundred times. But they will attack. Its in their DNA.

I guess serious journalism sometimes is a bit more difficult than women reporters elbowing their way into mens’ locker rooms after a game was.
