Over the Goldblog transom came an e-mail from CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, about anti-Muslim hate crimes in the U.S. The e-mail contained a link to an alarming Huffington Post story by Mark Potok headlined "FBI Reports Dramatic Spike in Anti-Muslim Hate Violence." Potok is the director of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project. Here is some of what the story reported:
Anti-Muslim hate crimes soared by an astounding 50% last year, skyrocketing over 2009 levels in a year marked by the vicious rhetoric of Islam-bashing politicians and activists, especially over the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque" in New York City.
Although the national statistics compiled by the FBI each year are known to dramatically understate the real level of reported and unreported hate crimes, they do offer telling indications of some trends. The latest statistics, showing a jump from 107 anti-Muslim hate crimes in 2009 to 160 in 2010, seem to reflect a clear rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric from groups like Stop Islamization of America. Much of that rhetoric was aimed at stopping an Islamic center in lower Manhattan.
There is no doubt that anti-Muslim prejudice is a serious problem in America, and not only among the Republican candidates for president. But when you dive into the FBI statistics on hate crimes, you discover something very interesting, something CAIR didn't mention, and something Potok didn't report: According to the FBI, only 13.2 percent of religiously-motivated hate attacks in America were directed against Muslims. Jews, however, were on the receiving end of 65.4 percent of all religion-based attacks: the FBI reports 887 hate crimes against Jews, as opposed to 160 against Muslims.

In that time, undoubtedly Mr. Goldberg would have ended up as a Sonderkommando in one of the camps, and then gone on to be a hugely successful Wall Street speculator.
To say that the man's professional life is dominated by fabricating things that are not there is something of an understatement. How such a blatant doofus remains employed can only be explained by the fact that the vast majority on the left prefer to live in a land of make-believe as imagined by the likes of Jeffrey Goldberg.
No one should fall for the equivalence posited between Islam and the Jewish faith. Starting from a flawed premise leads to faulty conclusions.
“Hate crime” is straight out of “1984”. It’s a ruse to squelch dissent that the power needs to squelch.
What's really going on is the PC factions at local, state, and federal levels are giving Muslims victim hood status while they demonize all other citizens, especially Christians.
These PC appeasers think that currying favor with the sworn enemies of Western Civilization is just the thing to do. Most of the useful idiots hate themselves and their country almost as much as the Muslims do. Silly Infidels. If the Muslims takeover, they will reward you by killing you first and they won't bother with enslavement or conversion.

I think the muslims would have an easier go of it if they would stop murdering infidels. But maybe that’s just me.

I think that Jeffrey Goldberg’s intent in quoting the “anti-muslim hate crimes” memo from the far-left SPLC (pronounced “splick”) is to highlight the ridiculousness of the SPLC report in light of the far greater number of hate crimes against Jews during the same period.
Goldberg is operating behind enemy lines IMO.

I prefer not to have any harm done to Muslims, but I would REALLY prefer for the Muslims to stop their carnage.
