Of course, that means your teacher would have broken the law year after year to get his employment status, etc. If he were discovered at the time that the Iron Curtain were up it would have been at least closer to how we deal with Cuban immigrants today.

There’s really so little in common between the government giveaways that we have, racial spoils that go to the 99% non-white illegals we have today, shear numbers, special language classes through school, etc., etc., that I don’t see how the two can be compared.

Yup.

Besides, short of Hillary who had her own long time following and now has been the Scy of State...they aren’t going to vote for a woman president. If they do, it would be a Margaret thatcher type or Merkel...not flashy.

I just don’t think that the general population will vote for another Black or a woman in 2012.

Which is my point: We are allowing the media to paint the Republican candidates as something they’re not. Newt expressed openly some version of what they ALL pretty much believe.

I call them Jackass Conservatives (donkey-crossovers).

A Jackass Conservative is a conservative who spends time injuring other conservative candidates, thereby helping Romney or Obama.

I like it. I have been thinking about them as haters. Instead of trying to inspire people about their candidate, all they wanna do is hate, hate, hate on Newt.

> Selecting Bachmann as his running-mate would be analogous to what McCain did by choosing Sarah Palin.

But MB is no SP. She does not motivate the way SP does. I cant see her drawing 10,000 people the way SP did.

So I guess that FR mass mobilization against amnesty last decade was just a big honkin' display of conservative hate, then.

I'm sure La Raza agrees with your position here. Their apologists in the media are falling over themselves to praise Newt for his stance here.

This has nothing to do with immigration, and everything to do with the nomination process. I left the imigration debate behind yesterday when I realized that all the candidates, including Newt have exactly the same postion on immigration...close the border first, enforce the laws penalizing buisnesses for hiring illegals, and selective deportation. The haters refuse to see the fact that Newts and Cains and Bachmanns immigration beliefs are all the same cause they wanna hate, hate, hate on Newt.

Really. Show where Cain, as a presidential candidate and AFTER the onset of our economic slump, has called for a guest worker program, as Newt is doing now. And not just any guest worker program for skilled, educated workers, but an open-the-floodgates program as put forth by the Red Card folks.

I'll be waiting.

Oh, and Bachmann supports a border fence. Newt does not.

So their positions on border security are hardly identical, either.

But nice try pretending otherwise.

You got that right no dems. Gingrich was honest..haven’t heard how Cain plans to deport over 11 million illegals. All I hear from him is 999

I have to start paying more attention to who the “deport everyone” crowd is.

First it was the club over Perry's head with the TX Dream Act and now it is Gingrich with the visa proposal. It is incredibly hard to have a serious discussion about illegal immigration and how to solve it because of these "purists". They play right into all the negative stereotypes and drive Americans of Latin ancestry right into the arms of the Rats. Also, the "squishy" moderates buy into the negative stereotypes and we lose a good portion of that vote as well.

I think its encouraging that Gingrich has looked at Perry's solution and embraced it as well. They both want the border secured first and then a visa program for those that are here not citizenship. I like the visa program idea because when someone applies a background check can be run and criminals can be identified, denied a visa and then when caught deported. I think Gingrich's suggestion of privatizing the program is great, why create a new govt bureaucracy when we want to downsize govt.

Hopefully the "purists" won't create so much dissent the voters are driven to Romney.

Have you noticed that not a single Cain supporter has mentioned exactly how Cain plans to deport millions of illegals? by bus? send in swat teams? who will pay the airfare for deporting those that are from Europe or Italy? Newt’s plan is NOT amnesty or any guarantee of citizenship. Those that have been here 25 yrs..still have to go to the back of the line to apply. Now, what I want to know are details from Cain other than the electric fence. Every candidate agrees on securing the borders but very few have honestly stated what or how they would deal with the ones here or discussed the cost.

Like I said, I left the immigration debate behind yesterday. No sense focusing on one tree in the forest when there are so many other issues to care about. Those who want Newt to pay for his lapse in conservatism will no doubt cling to this single issue for weeks to come. I’ll get back to you when the polls come out and show whether this debate hurt Gingrich or helped him.

Translation: after having made the claim that the candidates are all the same on this subject, you are unable to defend that claim.

Why am I not suprised?

...and their fallback is "they broke the law".

This is what makes resolving this issue so tough, there is truth in that statement. Also, a large portion of the illegals have not made any attempts to assimilate. They don't become proficient in english and don't identify with this country, but instead cling to their native roots. We need to stop the flow of illegals into the country. Also, we need to force the assimilation of those that are here that are not committing crimes.

I try to see the good in things and one thing that I'm really encouraged by is some of the candidates are coming out with concrete proposals on how to solve the big problems we face. We see good proposals on entitlements, taxes, and immigration. The Rats have so over played their hand with obama and hyealthcare that we have a real opportunity to advance conservatism with the right candidate.

Have you noticed that not a single Cain supporter has mentioned exactly how Cain plans to deport millions of illegals?

And another Newt supporter puts forward the false dichotomy of amnesty versus boxcars.

There is a basic middle approach here that does not require false choices nor the abuse of basic concepts such as Newt coining the phrase 'path to non-deportation'.

1) Enforce existing federal laws.

2) Stop blocking state-level actions.

3) Eliminate government-paid bennies.

4) Crack down hard on businesses that hire illegals.

And then watch the majority of illegals self-deport.

Many politicians have supported such an approach. People who pretend that approach doesn't exist or is not viable usually are shilling for an amnesty pimp. It's that obvious.

Whatever dude...I don’t come here to please you. I checked their websites and they do not address the question of what to do with millions of illegals, and I do not remember where I have seen the quotes I recall, nor am I interested in spending the rest of the day trying to locate them. I am satisfied that all of them have virtually identical positions which are 1. close the border first, 2. enforce the law, and 3. begin deportation of at least some of the transgressors. Moving on, next issue please...

BTW, I support all four of your propsed actions, and I still support Newt for Republican nominee...Wrap your mind around that.
