Well, then, don’t make blanket claims you cannot support. I spent less than five minutes to show demonstrate where candidates differed significantly from Newt on the subject of dealing with illegal immigration.

Like I said, I’m satisfied that all their positions are the same.

And like I said, your position is not supported by the underlying facts as easily verified by a few minutes of Google searches.

Which gets to my point - those apologizing away Newt's wrong turn on amnesty only get there through denial of the obvious.

Agreed. Michele is running a poor campaign. I remember after the debate when Rick Perry’s mind went blank on the DOE, she was interviewed afterwards and expressed sympathy for Perry. Then she turned around and used Perry’s mis-step in a campaign commercial.

This is what makes resolving this issue so tough, there is truth in that statement. Also, a large portion of the illegals have not made any attempts to assimilate. They don't become proficient in english and don't identify with this country, but instead cling to their native roots. We need to stop the flow of illegals into the country. Also, we need to force the assimilation of those that are here that are not committing crimes.

Yep. I'm a security manager where I work. You'd be surprised at all the young latinos joining the military, who mistakenly believe that their folks are naturalized citizens. Mom and dad lie to the kids, and it gets uncovered during the background investigation. I hope that we mange to secure the borders, but I doubt very much we will ever deport a majoruty of the illegals her, no matter who is President and even if that person has both Houses of Congress to boot. I believe we need to secure the borders, then start sanity checks on all who claim any sort of benefits. That will whittle it away, but even ten years out I'd wager that there will still be millions who slip through the cracks. Unless the Feds try to put us all under some sort of martial law, it ain't gonna happen.

When I express that opinion or point out the inanity of those who say "send them all back now", I get accused of being a RINO and pro-amnesty.

I agree.

Never by me! I think you have a realistic perspective on the issue.
