i was in Macys- Herald Square yesterday...take my daughter (8YO) to NYC each year on black friday- we also go to the parade on Thanksgiving...she loves to go on Black friday as we have dinner, ride the ferris wheel at Toys R Us, visit American Girl Store, Santa Land at Macy’s and shop for a Christmas dress....

here’s the irony and why i laugh when stores complain they are doing poorly- we got through Santaland at Macys in 30 minutes (well worth it as my daughter loved it)...couldn’t find a Christmas dress but found some other stuff she/we wanted...two Macy employees standing behind a cash register talking..i ask “is this register open?” response “no- over there is the register”...i said “i know- but i am NOT waiting on line for 30 minutes to pay for THREE items”...they look at me with blank stares as i leave the items behind...my daughter did not want to wait either...

the wait to PAY for items at the American Girl store was 15/20 minutes....this goes on all the time in stores (KMart, etc); 10 employees standing around chatting with only two employees manning check out lines despite people waiting...

oh- and i got onto Macy’s.com when i got home last night and bought about $1000 of merchandise for $400 after specials (including a pair of Jones NY suits), promos, etc- so my daughter was happy....

With a recession of historic proportions in full swing, and Obama’s Leftist government printing up dollars as fast as they can to devalue the buck, it’s no surprise that Black Friday crowds shoved their way in everywhere to get what cut rate bargains they could find.

However, it most certainly does NOT mean that the economy is recovering, and we can look for sales at regular prices to be dismal.

It is ever thus in a socialist state, and until America comes to its senses and elects a true conservative government that deregulates commerce, it will continue to be so.

Like it or lump it.

I went to a Sears store Friday morning, to check out a cordless drill with battery pack and charger on sale for about $37. For the last year been thinking about buying a spare battery, they cost about $35. This would have been a free drill and charger.

The store was extremely crowded. They still had items in the late morning. But I freaked out seeing lines stretching forty deep at every cashier. I turned right around and left. I don’t need a battery or extra drill that bad. My sanity is more important. Those other shoppers are nuts.
