Fair article and from the Des Moines Register (Iowa) no less.

Bachmann = desperate, frustrated, petty, little ankle biter?

Bachmann = dishonest?

Bachmann = hypocrite?

Yet she says nothing about Romney’s abysmal record on immigration? Examples:

So disappointed that she has become an ankle biter for Romney.

Can you refute what Bachmann is claiming?

It’s always attack the messenger from Newt supporters. Unfortunately he’s got a record a mile long when it comes to pandering to illegals and his Chamber of Commerce donors. I don’t need her to say anything.

Here is what Bachmann has to say about it.

I like Michelle. She’s truly a great Conservative voice in the US congress. But just once, I’d like to see her go after Romney on something. She’s gone after Perry, Cain and now Newt...but not Romney. What’s the deal Michelle?

Don’t need to refute anything when pointing out a case of “the pot calling the kettle black.”

The difference here is an actual record. Gingrich's goes back to the 1980s where he has either voted for amnesties or hamstrung the then INS.

Bachmann does not have that history of illegal alien pandering. We might not even have these problems today if not for Newt and his handiwork in the 1990s. I really don't need him telling me he's going to "fix" a problem that he had a great part in creating.

Bachmann never actively worked to derail enforcement of illegal immigration laws as a member of the House. Gingrich used his power as Speaker to do so.

“Dishonest ... hypocrite” - perhaps the two best words that describe Newt Gingrich.

Which could only help Romney. What's up with that?

Romney/Bachmann 2012?

No other reason I can see.

If this is the case then..............

.....FUMR/FUMB.

Do you have a convincing argument that it would be better under Gingrich than Romney? I'm not so sure. Both have and would support mandated health care. Both have, and would, support some form of Amnesty. Both have and would continue to support big government and big spending. Gingrich appears to be more wacky when it comes to the environment. Neither are trustworthy or honest.

The choice between them is no choice at all.

It’s kind of like choosing between a major heart attack and cancer isn’t it.

Neither is a conservative and either will screw us in a heartbeat to appease the special interests. This was the year I was hoping not to hold my nose.

I don't need a convincing argument that one would be better than the other. My main point is that if Newt is successfully taken out - you will get Romney. Now everybody is going to have to pick one or the other. Will it be Newt or is Romney going to win by default?

I'm sure many will argue that one of the others can - and perhaps will - win. It's my opinion that it's highly unlikely that any of the others will be able to stop Romney. Bachmann, Perry, and Cain, have all flown high only to eventually crash and burn. I don't believe any of those will experience a phoenix like resurrection. The fact that the electorate has already taken those candidates for a spin and has found them wanting, makes their resurgence even less likely. Santorum and Huntsman never even got off the ground. Paul is a nutcase and will not be the nominee.

Time is also a factor. There's not allot of time left to test drive another Not Romney candidate. Newt may very well be the last best chance to stop Romney.

Yes there was Huckabee and Iowa. Of course as we all know there was no GOP nominee Huckabee, let alone President Huckabee. Still, if another candidate has a chance - a remote chance - of being the next Not Romney, then it may be Santorum. Maybe Bachmann too, but even less likely. At least that's how I see it.

So if you are asking me - I will gladly pull the lever for Newt before I would pull it for Romney. I believe that this is what the choice has come down to. For me there is no question which way to go.

I find it strange myself. Romney's the biggest RINO in the race (except for Huntsman) but she won't touch him. With each "flavor of the month" who's risen in the polls (Perry, Cain, etc.), she's went after them vigorously trying to tear them down. And yet Mitt is somehow excused from it all.

It's a shame because I liked Bachmann and was my personal favorite a few months ago. But I really don't understand her campaign decisions.
