Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain acknowledges slipping from the top tier of candidates while addressing accusations of sexual harassment and confusion about his policy stands.

"Obviously false accusations and confusion about some of my positions has contributed" to the downturn in the polls, he said.

The Georgia businessman insists his campaign is sound and supporters remain onboard what he calls the "Cain train."

It's more the later than the former in my view. Cain could have overcome the sexual harassment charges. His problem has been the "confusion". But, the confusion that has done him the most damage has been his confusion, not the public's.

He and Gingrich are the best we have right now. Which is slightly depressing.

Cain did fine until people actually looked at him and found him extremely wanting.

Of course he bungled the issue.
He thought he could survive by doing the same solution
as Bill did it in 1991/92, but he missed one big thing:
Bill was like a ‘kid’ then, whereas Cain is like a grandpa.

moreover, he dared challenge the press with his presser
and denied everything and said only something about
saying Kraushaar’s height is the same as his wife; this
is absolutely ridiculous, as a woman would be insane to
demand justice just for that or NRA was stupid enough to
settle for $45K just for that. Cain thought people are
children.

The media will do this to everyone of our candidates who surges in the polls.

Once again the Media is going to select our candidate. It really was sad the number of FReepers who sided with Politico in their hit piece against Cain.

And we sit here and bi*ch about Boehner and Cantor.

We are so screwed.

Many Freepers were more than happy to help the liberal media bring down a gadfly.

They have helped to ensure Obama’s re-election.

Congratulations!

the press can make anyone they want look like an idiot.

Misspell potato .. your an idiot (if the press desires that)

Pause for 10 seconds on a Lybia question .. your an idiot (if the press desires that)

State a true fact like Russian territory can be seen from parts of Alaska .. your an idiot (if the press desires that)

but on the other hand Obama can do all of the following and he is still considered “brilliant” ! (because the press desires for you think think that!)

1. How many states? Vice President Dan Quayle was virtually laughed out of Washington for misspelling potato back in 1992, yet Barack Obama made a more elementary flub when, during the 2008 campaign, he said: “I've now been in 57 states—I think one left to go.’’

2. Hero soldier mix-up: While commending troops at Fort Drum, N.Y., for their completed deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, President Obama said, “A comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn't receiving it posthumously.” Wrong hero. Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti was killed in action, another soldier, Staff Sgt. Sal Giunta, was the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor that fought in Afghanistan.

3. What year is it? During a trip to London’s Westminster Abbey, President Obama signed the guest book and dated it 24 May 2008. Oops. It was 2011. (Maybe he was wistfully dreaming about his 2008 election campaign at the time.)

4. Look at the map: Not only does Obama not know how many states there are, he also doesn’t know where they are. During the 2008 primary campaign, he explained why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky: “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it’s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.” Obama’s home state of Illinois, and not Arkansas, shares a border with Kentucky.

5. What language is that? In April 2009, on one of his many foreign trips, President Obama mused, “I don’t know what the term is in Austrian” for “wheeling and dealing.” Oops, Mr. President. There is no Austrian language.

6. Twister casualties: After a devastating tornado hit Kansas, Obama discussed the tragedy without help from a teleprompter, saying, ‘’In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died—an entire town destroyed.’’ He was only off by 9,988 as the twister killed 12 people.

7. How old is Malia? The President last month thought he was so clever, unfavorably comparing Republican procrastination on the debt limit to his daughters finishing their homework early. In his remarks, Obama made a reference to daughter Malia, saying she was 13 years old, when at the time she was 12. Imagine the press reaction if Michele Bachmann made a misstatement about any of her five children or 23 foster kids.

you see what is happening? you are being manipulated. Everyone makes mistakes, and anyone can be made to look like an idiot. Stop letting the media manipulate you, learn to think for yourself.

Cain is a great conservative deserving of our support.

Sadly, a good portion of these were Perry supporters.

If the Perry supporters thought the Leftists gave their guy an anal exam when he first announced his primary bid...well, they haven’t seen anything. It was oh so sweet when Politico was going after Cain. Let’s see if they hold that same admiration should Politico go aftert their guy with less than credible information.

Oh, stop it. The accusations came from Axelrod’s office. Then Cain’s campaign erroneously accused Perry’s campaign, before looking into the real source. It was a very similar mistake to what Bachman did that destroyed her campaign.

Nice try, but the Perry supporters were out in force giving credibility to the Politico hit piece even before Cain's campaign accused Perry.

You know what...at this point it really doesn't matter anymore. The media have proven they still have the power to select our candidate. They'll do it this election, just like they've done it before. We can only blame ourselves. We're no better than the Boehner and Cantors we regularly like to castigate.

The media and Left must laugh their a$$es off at us. They must be thinking: “It can't be this easy!”

At least Cain isn’t a shorter, fatter version of Mitt (like Newt is).

“Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas.

If he said, "nearby" he wasn't that far off. From Kentucky, a skip and a jump through the tip of Tennessee and you're in Arkansas.

Cains willingness to falsely pin his troubles on others did more to damage him than the harassment charges.
