ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The New Mexico Attorney General's Office cautioned parents against an Internet image they said is really a sexual menace called the "pedobear."
It started out as a joke, but authorities said the bear has spiraled into something much darker and more evil than they could've imagined.
Some images depict the pedobear snatching a little girl, dangling a carrot over two children and joking about not using condoms.
"This is the most disturbing one of all, it has the bear and it says, 'Too young to talk, too young to testify,'" said Lynn Southard with the AGO.
Authorities said the bear actually started off as an image mocking pedophiles but that pedophiles have embraced the bear and are using the image themselves.

Pedobear isn’t used by pedophiles, Pedobear is used by Anonymous and 4Chan forums to call out Pedos (usually mockingly).

Your link did work. Not sure I agree with the AG’s request for information on vehicles with the image though. Her public addressing this phenomenon is certainly justified though.

it started out a a warning on 4-Chan... guess it has a new meaning here in the USA Pedobear is a cartoon mascot that became a well-known icon through its usage on 4chan to signal moderators and other users that illegal pornographic content had been posted. Due to the widespread nature of its application, Pedobear has been often misinterpreted as a symbol of pedophilia and lolita complex, especially in the news media and law enforcement agencies.
Recall somewhere seeing a modus operandi for pedophiles of using stuffed toys/animals to lure the children. For example, a car with the entire back seat shelf covered in beanie babies, while not being absolute, could be a real clue. This has figured in several investigations that turned out to be horrendous, and even those with a couple abusing children.
The MLP: Friendship is Magic TV show. A cartoon aimed at 5 year old girls that’s somehow attracted a cult following among hipsters. I guess they watch it while high or whatever.
YouTube has 18,900 results for "Pedobear." It appears that it is transitioning and now has a double meaning. For what its worth, I never heard the term before reading and posting this story.

I’ve actually watched the entire first season of MLP: FiM and I can safely say that it got a cult following because, I can’t believe I’m typing this, it’s actually a decent cartoon.
