The UK is to expel all Iranian diplomats following the storming of its embassy in Tehran, Foreign Secretary William Hague has announced.
He said he had ordered the immediate closure of the Iranian embassy in London.
Tuesday's attack by hundreds of protesters followed Britain's decision to impose further sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme.
Iran's parliament had previously voted to reduce diplomatic ties with the UK.
Mr Hague said there had been "some degree of regime consent" in the attacks.
He said all UK diplomatic staff in Tehran had been evacuated and the embassy closed.

It is the British Embassy, which represents not Great Britain but the United Kingdom.
Every country with any dignity should be closing their Iranian embassies and expelling Iranian diplomats after this attack on a UK embassy.

Germany stands to gain big from recent turmoil in the Eurozone. We need to watch Germany’s moves on the foreign policy front too. A reich may be forming.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by this latest slip-up by President Obama. After all he recently described France as America’s closest ally, and famously declared that he has traveled to no less than 57 states. But it would be nice if the leader of the free world bothered to look at a map once in a while, or even paid a visit to the British Embassy in Washington, currently housing the Churchill bust that Mr. Obama unceremoniously threw out of the Oval Office soon after his inauguration.”
Too bad the UK mothballed all of its carriers and the new ones they are building will not be ready until 2015 and 2017. That first one will have no aircraft because the F-35C JSF will not be ready for them until 2017 or so.
They have messed themselves all over due to libs cutting their defense budget and acquisitions down beyond the bone.
Sad day to see a once great and strong ally reduced to this...they do have their nuclear subs...and they do have a few that can shoot Tomohawks.
