TV preacher Osteen ventures into reality TV

Nationally known TV preacher and evangelist Joel Osteen is slated to join Mark Burnett, the producer of the popular ‘Survivor’ show, to create new primetime network TV show together. Burnett and wife Roma Downey are good friends of Osteen and wife Victoria. Their show would feature people who join Osteen to “start fixing things” throughout the United States.

Osteen is viewed by more than 10 million people each week. He broadcasts from his Lakewood Church in Houston TX and could probably reach an even wider audience with the new venture. "We don't just want to do a reality show. We want to do something that inspires people and makes them better, you know," said Osteen. "It's not always entertaining and fun, but have some kind of message, make someone else's day today."

No thanks, I’ll pass.

He can make my day by going away.

Well, I guess at least it will be better than the “All-American Muslim” show.

When I first heard this, all I could do is roll my eyes. I guess old money man Olsteen doesn't agree with Mathew 6:5-6 "When thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

The guys a circus showman . . . and pathetic.

This supposed preacher of the gospel says he wants to do something that will inspire people and make them better.

I prefer a message I hear in a real church. That people without Jesus are going down into Christless graves every day and this soon to be destroyed world is not our home, the signs are all about us that we are in the judgment hour and our redemption draweth nigh and unless a person is born again and repents of his sin, he can be the “best” person this world has to offer but he or she too will go down into a Christless grave where their eternity without God is sealed.

But I guess that wouldn’t be a popular message for people with itchy ears wanting to hear a soothing gospel instead of end time truths.....

If Osteen is closely involved, this will be successful. He has the Midas touch. If he offers some sort of watered down Christianity angle to it and doesn’t offend someone, it will make a lot of money.

I think this is the first time I've heard or read the REAL gospel message, with anything regarding Osteen.

Preach it brother.

Rather than the Gospel, the only thing Osteen preaches is feel good psycho-babble from the book of 1st Imaginations.

True, but I meant specifically in the show.

Lots of this these days:

2Ti 3:5-6 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

Lots of silly women led astray to part from their money. Osteen truly is a brand. By the way, if every day was a Friday, I’d never have a day off. That would be a bummer.

With this guy everything is just wonderful as long as you don’t preach about sin. I regret I’ll be missing his program.
