Spot on.

I've watched a lot of Cain's interviews. Mostly because I don't believe a WORD of what the media says, even if they say the Sun rises in the East. So I always go to the video to see it for myself. The Libya gaffe, for example: The snipped video looked HORRIBLE. I was mortified. Then I watched the entire 35 minute interview, and I saw that (a) it wasn't as bad as the snipped version made it look (not by a long shot), and (b) Cain was medically fatigued in that interview.

(I'm in the Safety field, and we talk about Fatigue all the time.)

This Cavuto interview is Cain when he is rested. He apparently only needs 4 hours sleep per night, which isn't enough anyway, and I'm sure he is burning the candle at both ends on the campaign trail and is probably getting only 2 hours sleep many nights. So I have observed there are days when Cain is rested, and days when he is fatigued. He does great when he is rested, and thankfully, that is most of the time now. After the Libya gaffe, his campaign recognized he needed more rest, so they trimmed an engagement or two. Rule #1, take care of yourself first, or you can't help others. He needs to follow Rule #1 and get enough rest.

There will be plenty of people who will say Cain should never get fatigued, and that “If Cain wants to be President, he should be able to do all things at all times and know everything about everything, and be God's Gift to Mankind at all hours of the day or night, whether he's had 1 hour of sleep that week or not!”

But that's not reality. Reality is that it's much harder physically to campaign for the Presidency than it is to be President. (People will not read my words, and think I'm saying it's not hard to be President, so I'll say it again: It is much harder PHYSICALLY to campaign than it is to be President.)

The President has an army of staff at his disposal, and he can delegate everything and anything, and be sure to get adequate rest — except in the first hours of a crisis. But no “crisis” lasts for months on end like the campaign trail does. And a well-rested person can go 3 days with no sleep, working on just adrenaline. So in a crisis, any President would be fine for the first 3 days, then he can get some rest.

(My posts are always way too long. Apologies everyone.)

Well, you know Cain is not my candidate. I have disagreements with him on policy and other issues, but I don’t want to see him unfairly smeared. I also hold folks on our side to a higher standard and tend to be tougher on them when they don’t deal with issues and the media the way I’d like to see.

My critique about Cain regarding these affair allegations has simply been that he hasn’t handled them well till today (in my opinion). If there is nothing there, he should be completely upfront and answer every question. I think he did that in this Cavuto interview, and if he continues along these lines I think he can put these accusations behind him and perhaps come out stronger.

There are some things that really unite us and one is a hatred for the left wing, statist mainstream media. If Cain is open, specific, and answers all the questions and explains why these charges are bogus he will generate a lot of sympathy from all conservatives whether they support him for President or not. And if it were possible for him to ever PROVE the allegations were complete lies and smears, well he will have done ALL conservatives a great service and make a lot of people take a second look at him.

I have a different theory for why the MSM is ripping Cain to pieces with glee. In my view, it isn’t that they are afraid he can beat Obama. I really don’t think most in the establishment ever believed Cain would be the nominee. What I do think they are afraid of is how much more powerful Cain was going to be as a force in the future. Even if he doesn’t win, Herman was poised to come out of this primary as a major black conservative voice recognized by nearly everyone. Cain will likely end up on TV all the time, perhaps his own show, etc. THAT, in my view, is what the liberal establishment and race hustlers fear most.
