Scarborough: Newt 'Not Fit To Be President Of The United States'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/01/2011 5:42:15 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

If Newt Gingrich is the Republican presidential candidate, will Joe Scarborough abstain on election day? The question arises because on Morning Joe today, Scarborough flatly declared that Gingrich "is not fit to be the President of the United States."

It was Newt's acceptance of $1 million-plus in fees from Freddie Mac, while subsequently suggesting that "politicians who profited" from the environment surrounding Fannie and Freddie should go to jail, that set Scarborough off.

Obama isn’t fit to be President of an All Boys Singing Quarter, but look where he is now. I have more faith in Newt than Obama. And between the two, when American lives and business is at stake, I know which one isn’t going to throw us to the wolves.

You mean “Molly” Brown—but your comment still holds water!

Note the “Newt vs. Non-Newt” screen banner. The left is trying to shove Gingrich into the “anybody but *him*” place that is currently occupied by Romney.

It seems several of those that served with him feel that way. I am sure they know where more untold dirt is on newt, I expect one of them to leak before long.

I don’t know what “fitness to be President” means. Certainly, I have argued that the current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is unfit for the office (and I am not resorting to Constitutional questions).

Mr Gingrich was magnificient as an opposition leader when the Republicans were in the minority in the House of Representative, and I give him great credit for the results of the 1994 election.

However, when Speaker of the House, he reportedly would have a grand idea on a daily basis which then was the top priority. The next day, he would have a new grand idea which became the new top priority.

I think that the president needs to be a little more focused. I think highly of Mr Gingrich, but I shudder at the thought of him as president of the Republic.

No! I meant MAGGIE Brown!
Margaret Brown of Denver Colorado (known as Maggie) was the heroine of the play and movie titled, “The Unsinkable Mollie Brown”. For some reason the producers of the play decided that Molly sounded better. In her lifetime Mrs Brown was never called “Mollie”.
This little fact is mentioned by the tour guide at the Brown's "House of Lions" in Denver. And this from the Wikipedia page on Margaret Brown; " She became known after her death as The Unsinkable Molly Brown, although she was not called Molly during her life. Her friends called her Maggie"

Interesting—didn’t know that.

Next April 15th will be the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

SCARBOROUGH RESPONDS: OBAMA RECORD ‘DISASTROUS,’ WON’T BE VOTING FOR HIM EITHER

In response to an inquiry from this NewsBuster, Joe Scarborough has clarified his comments, making clear that his criticism for Newt shouldn’t be interpreted as support for Obama.

Scarborough statement:

“Anyone who watches the show or reads my Politico column knows that I believe Barack Obama’s economic policies have been disastrous as they pertain to the issue I have fought for over 20 years: reducing the national debt. I have also consistently expressed grave misgivings about the president’s foreign policy for years. So while I respect the president and am confident he is doing what he believes to be best for America, his views are dramatically different than mine.

“The assumption of some Gingrich supporters that my critiques of their candidate can somehow be twisted into support for Barack Obama suggests a knowing ignorance of my political beliefs over 20 years. I was more conservative than Gingrich while in Congress (95% ACU rating) and have remained more conservative than Mr. Gingrich since leaving Congress. Unlike the former speaker, I have supported the Ryan Budget, didn’t get rich off of Freddie and Fannie, criticized Ethinol and never bragged about being a Rockefeller Republican.”I have nothing personal against Newt. He’s just not consistently conservative enough to win my vote. Barack Obama is also obviously not conservative enough to gain my vote.”

Oh please we know all of Newt's dirt. He is fit to be President. When people say that are comparing him to Obama?

I don’t know what “fitness to be President” means.

In short, he must be an arrogant elitist with Marxist tendencies... according to any lib you would talk to.

How dumb is this guy? The ONLY untainted guy to be President is Jimmy Carter as far as I know. We have had nothing but fornicators and liars as President and just a little research would prove it out.

Scarborough says that Newt isn’t conservative enough for his vote, and Scarborough’s been attacking the Tea Party for being radical since they started.

I doubt that, the vote against him had a bigger driver than the charges, when he was kicked out of congress. I know now you are going to say he was not kicked out. He knew he was going to be fired from the speakers position, so he left, but he would never have done it without a big push.

I felt kind of bad when the conservatives got together and drove him out of the speakership because he lost his ideological moorings.

So did you, Mr. Scarborough.

"The assumption of some Gingrich supporters that my critiques of their candidate can somehow be twisted into support for Barack Obama suggests a knowing ignorance of my political beliefs over 20 years. I was more conservative than Gingrich while in Congress (95% ACU rating) and have remained more conservative than Mr. Gingrich since leaving Congress.

That's not saying much.

Unlike the former speaker, I have supported the Ryan Budget, didn't get rich off of Freddie and Fannie, criticized Ethinol and never bragged about being a Rockefeller Republican.

Unlike the former Speaker, who only sat on a couch with Pelosi Galore, you co-host a show on a loathsome network and let your co-host spout insane far-left ravings, and many times, espouse views that skirt right up to them.

You can sugarcoat excrement all you want, Scarborough. I'm not bitin'.

Did he really misspell ethanol? Under the Dan Quayle standard I guess that makes Joe unfit for office too. ;-)

What’s new? There has never been a “fit” Republican or conservative nominee, candidate or President. The only acceptable Republicans have been beaten in an election or they are dead.
