OK, if I’m Obama, I definitely don’t want to have to debate with Newt. So what am I going to do to get out of it?

What is it with Hofstra?

I grew up on Long Island (NY) not far from Hofstra. When my HS class (1964) was looking to move on to college, Hofstra was regarded somewhat as a place to go for kids who couldn't go to college. I suppose its reputation has improved somewhat over the years, but I rarely if ever hear of someone in the public eye who went there.

So now this is the second consecutive debate sequences I think, where Hofstra has landed one of these Presidential "debates." About ten years ago, I was to the auditorium about where these things are held and I remember nothing particularly remarkable about it.

And so I wonder, why Hofstra?

“non-partisan, non-profit Commission on Presidential Debates”

Non-partisan, yeah right. This commission needs to be disbanded.

Who will the moderators be?? “Bad Dentures” Brokaw again?? “Make my book sell Barack” Ifill?

I’ll go out on a limb and say that if Newt is the nominee none of these debates will ever happen. Barry will have the flu/dental surgery/death in the family/pressing diplomatic business in The Bahamas, etc.

Why not just do away with the inquisitors and let the two candidates do the talking, Lincoln-Douglas style? Just have a neutral timekeeper.

As I understand it, the selection criteria have nothing to do with the prestige of the institutions, but with issues like room size and amenities, access, nearby hotel rooms, etc. And, obviously, they want regional balance with one each in the Northeast, West and South.

Hempstead, LI, isn't exactly the social capital of the NY Metro area. There are lots of places in Manhattan which would score much higher on the criteria you suggest.

Actually, if “The Powers That Be” decide that Obama is going to be defeated, he will not be the Democrat nominee. His show will be cancelled.

Sure, those “Townhall Style” debates have worked so well in the past.

If Gingrich is the nominee he should tell this bunch of League of Women voter wannabes to shove it and challenge the Messiah to the Lincoln/Douglas style debates.

He won't tell them to shove it, he'll do their little Debates and STILL challenge Obozo to 7 Lincoln/Douglas-style Debates. If Obozo refuses, Newt will follow the Prez on every campaign stop nlt 4 hours after he speaks and refute his speech. He promised to do just that. Buy popcorn. It's gonna be fun.

In his interview with Hannity last night, he said that was his plan.

Newt also said if 0zer0 would not, he would use 0zer0's campaign schedule as his own, showing up at each place 4 hours later to rebut what he said until he agreed to debate face to face.

Newt is a historian. That's what Abraham Lincoln (a little known nobody) did to Stephen Douglas (King of the Senate) to force him to debate. It also won him the Presidency. He plans to use the same tactic.

Talk about getting into Obammy's head... it will explode if Newt follows through.
