I am glad he doesn’t cower in embarrassment and hits it head on. Sort of takes the sting from the likes of MSNBC et al.
On the screen you linked to there is also the Hannity radio interview with Perry and Arpaio, I am listening to it now.
I think Perry was probably mortified after the gaffe, as most of us would have been.
And his ability to laugh at himself, while admirable, is the advice he got.
But again...let’s move on to substance!
Well, it says volumes about the type of ‘conservatives’ that are defecting from Cain to Newt.
And considering the support here for Cain, it says a lot about the ‘conservatives’ here...
...since they are the ones going to Newt.
They are not conservatives that is what it is actually saying.
It wasn’t a mistake. Those that watch these things say it was on purpose. He got face time on tv all the next day, showing people he wasn’t the mean ole’ Perry people had thought he was. So here again he is using it to show the human in Rick Perry.
I don’t believe that it was anything other than a mistake...but by laughing at himself, he avoided a disaster.
That is 'too bad' as well.

The purpose of TV commercials is to get your attention and deliver the message. In that regard this is, in my opinion, an effective ad. There’s a jab at Newt and a portrayal of Perry as the anti-Newt/Romney outsider who will overhaul Washington. Sure, we political junkies are ready to move on, but the voters in Iowa aren’t there yet.
Yep, that is what people said about GHWB when he said on Sept 7th it was Pearl Harbor day. He did it to take the heat off of Quayle and it certainly did. Rope the dope move...
Over time you will realize that while Perry takes everything DEAD seriously as it impacts the US, he takes HIMSELF less seriously than any politician you’ll ever meet.
Now, this wasn’t always the case. You could say Rick’s head was big... and that would be an understatement. But something’s changed in him... maybe it was 9/11, or the financial collapse of ‘08, but he has become a much more pragmatic and un-self-absorbed man.
His tenseness is gone. He’s a man who has found the right path and his life’s calling, and he’s going to live it big.
The stampede to newt seems to me to be utterly mindless and desperate. I have gone on offense many times about ‘Easy Jews” who claim Judaism and go against everything we stand for. It is the same with ‘Easy Conservatives’ from what I am seeing. At his core, newt gingrich is a black hole where the light of truth does not shine and principle is nonexistent.
We are losing direction and becoming far too willing to compromise our values, and we had better damn well be VERY careful what we wish for,
A while ago I stated that it was refreshing and courageous when Perry came out the next day after the ‘oops’ thing and took on all comers. He didn’t hide and he didn’t shuck and jive either.
There are things about all the candidates that nag at me and I really hate that we are stuck yet again with having to evaluate and eliminate candidates by the lesser of evils.
Santorum, Bachmann and Cain are the whiniest of the bunch.
I think you are talking about that very strong life changing spiritual experience he had with The Lord. That is when he changed. It was about 2 years ago.
Perry sides with Israel, and I’m pretty secure in positing that he has their blessing.
The stampede to Newt is MORE than mindless and desperate. It is the MSM pushing, with little nudges here and little prods there what they want Republicans ingesting.
Zero does not want to run against Perry. Perry brings the executive, GOVERNOR ground game and Newt brings ‘any safe harbor in a storm’ to the base. Sarah was stormed, and the RATS storming her knew they could drive her base to Cain.
Now Cain’s getting stormed, and his new-found base is running to Newt, who is about to get chewed up and spit out in Iowa.
Why isn’t Perry getting the business, you ask? Because he can not only bring Republicans and Independents to vote for him next November, but also the Reagan Democrats. That’s the fear with zero’s SRM, that Perry will resonate if given mention, which is why they ignore him like an 800lb gorilla.
That is because they won’t face us anymore.
