Wisconsin governor lights Christmas tree among protesters; Jauch upset about ceremony timing

Even the annual lighting of Wisconsin's Christmas tree today couldn't escape politics. Protesters turned their backs as Gov. Scott Walker lit the tree and one Democratic state senator complained about the timing of the ceremony.

Protesters turned their backs as Gov. Scott Walker lit the tree and one Democratic state senator complained about the timing of the ceremony.

Sen. Bob Jauch of Poplar said Walker purposefully held the lighting in the morning because he was afraid protesters would disrupt a noontime event. A couple dozen protesters, many of them holding “Recall Walker” signs, did not interrupt the governor or cause any disruptions.

About 200 people attended the event, many of them members of the military who were being honored during the ceremony, but Jauch said there should have been more than 1,000.

“It's normally a joyous occasion,” Jauch said. “He has screwed up one of the finest traditions in the state Capitol.”

Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie said the lighting was held in the morning because the governor had midday speaking engagements and scheduling conflicts in Milwaukee that he could not change. He said he felt the ceremony was just as joyous as always.

“We were happy that Sen. Jauch attended the Christmas tree lighting ceremony this morning,” Werwie said.

Senator Bob Jauch of Poplar is a first-class, 24-karat, certifiable horse’s a$$.

Just sayin’.

At the link, the article goes on to say that there was a second ceremony (over which Jauch presided) held at noon and only about 2 dozen people attended.

BTW, I’ve seen Bob Jauch in action in the budget hearings in Madison and he’s nothing but a big blowhard. He reminds me of Dick Durbin, or Barney Frank. Need I say more?

Wisconsin ping.

Poplar said Walker purposefully held the lighting in the morning because he was afraid protesters would disrupt a noontime event.

Maybe he held it in the morning because space was limited and he knew most of the protestors would still be sleeping off their booze and pot party of the night before.

I don’t get it - atheists shouldn’t even be celebrating Christmas - why the hell do they care what we do?

Wisconsin libs are some of the most miserable people you can find. That’s why they try to inflict their misery on the rest of the state. I can’t recall conservatives protesting at any official ceremonies when Jim Doyle was governor. These are awful people we’re talking about.

Jauch upset about ceremony timing

When I read that, I figured he was upset that it timed during the Christmas season.

What's been going on in Wisconsin for many months now is why I decided this year to NEVER, EVER, if I can help it, buy any union-made product again. I don't care what the union is. As far as I'm concerned, all union members are selfish thugs--and, generally speaking, a hell of a lot wealthier than most of us. From now on I go out of my way to buy non-union goods and services.

Most people are FORCED to join the union. We need a right to work country, and no one should be forced to join any association, and that goes for a lot of this licensing stuff too.

Absolutely correct.

God love Scott Walker for putting up with this nonsense. I wish all those Dems would pack up and leave forever. THey could take Dale Schultz with them. THen Scott could just declare those seats vacant and we could have new elections to fill them.

LOL!
The governor had the ceremony in the morning, before the Democrats in their occupy tents woke up around noon!
I am liking this guy Walker more and more. Smart.

“Sen. Bob Jauch of Poplar”

Is this one of the libs that took off and hid out or is this one of their supporters?
