The National Defense Authorization Act is Scary
Business Insider ^ | December 2nd, 2011 | David Seaman

Fellow entrepreneurs, Americans, anyone who still cares about this country at all – this is a must read.

By the end of next week, the US government very likely will have the power to lock up US citizens for life at Guantanamo Bay or other military prisons -- without charge and without trial.

This means that, in the near future, a controversial Twitter post, attending a peaceful protest, or publishing an anti-Congress critique or anti-TSA rant on Google+ could land you "indefinite detention" for life, in the wording of the bill. No access to a lawyer, no access to trial.

Friends, countrymen, the time for talk is coming to an end. The usurper, aided by the traitors in our midst are placing the finishing touches on the mechanisms that will be used to completely enthrall and enslave and us. It is time, and the only question I have is; are there any Americans left?

The problem with that rationale is the supposition that FReepers generally trust Obama.

I suggest everyone do some research into what Andrew McCarthy is saying about this....I don’t think this is what people MAY think it is.

Another scary thing is that Levin (D) and McCain (R) put this together in secret without hearings and the Senate voted to accept it (SB 1867).

I am not concerned as to what it might be, but what it might become, that is to say free license to round up and imprison dissenters without due process. Right now it appears to be targeted only to known terrorist actively engaged in plotting and carryikng out attacks against our armed forces. If the US is now to be designated a battlefield, why have we not sealed our borders and rounded up and interred every last potential jihadi?

I basically don’t like this, but I have a mixed reaction. For years we have been handing out US “citizenship” like prizes in a Cracker Jack box.

For a lot of these “citizens” swept into the country, citizenship means nothing more than a whack at the pinata. So when they are rounded up, I feel no grief.

However, I was recently X-rayed at the airport, after which I was patted down. So I can easily imagine what lies ahead for us all.

What makes you think this will be used to control illegals? Being illegal, I can assume the current folks in power would make them exempt - only real citizens will be targetted.

The House did not pass this. The Senate did.

The house passed its own version ... they are now reconciling the TWO bills.

And you can bet the farm that the reconciled Bill will not be good for us. “For us” being those that love and appreciate the freedoms we have and want to make our own decisions on how we live our lives. “Us” also includes those who desire that the Government only perform its God ordained responsibilities, [to wit] The protection of its citizens from criminals ahd other agressor Nations.
