SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Two self-described Disney "fanatics" have purchased a house in Utah modeled after the colorful home featured in the animated movie "Up."

Discovering the house in the Salt Lake City suburb of Herriman, Utah, was a dream come true for Clinton and Lynette Hamblin of Petaluma, Calif. The couple had been looking for a house with some of the same flourishes as the one in the movie, such as a multi-colored exterior or a blue kitchen with retro appliances.

They initially looked in California until they saw news reports about the house in Utah that included every possible detail from the movie and was even officially recognized as the "Up" house by Disney. Even more surprising was the $400,000 price tag, which was less than homes they looked at in California.

For them, however, the real attraction to the house was it underscored the overriding theme of the movie.

I wonder if they used the same ‘interesting’ floor joist pattern as in the movie’s house.

FreeRepublic is like a woman. It has moods. It doesn't always make sense.

LOL at that one. That's tag line worthy, but I won't steal it.... I'm in a good mood today.

These people better hire full time security. They are going to live in hell unless they can control access to the place.

...Best movie ever made. Ever....

When I bought my first HDTV and Blu-Ray player that was the first movie I watched.

I was blown away.

My buddy and I took three of his grandkids to see it. Everything was fine until the kids pointed at the old man on the screen and said out loud to me, “That’s YOU, Roccus!!”

Other adults in the theater thought that was much funnier than I did...hrumph!

Love, love that movie. One of my all time favorite movie. Watched it on New Year’s Eve on dvd with a friend on my computer nearly two years ago.

Well now that my UConn football team is done for the season, and I do extend best wishes to your WVU football team in the bowl selection process, other than for the college b-ball teams, will be enjoying some good movies. :)

Those that just spend it have earned nothing.

First of all, we don't know anything about these people who bought the house. Second, as long as it's not my money--directly or indirectly through tax--and they don't appear from criminal activities, I don't really care much. I thought that's modern conservatism is?

Never heard of the movie. Is this the actual house in the article? It’s ugly and need landscaping.

Even more surprising was the $400,000 price tag, which was less than homes they looked at in California.

What's even more surprising is the median home sale price is $255k in Harriman, UT. The new home owners couldn't have gone down to the Home Depot and bought up all the mix matched on sale paints and painted house half the price of this one? Oh, they were from CA.
