Do you understand who St. Nicholas was, and why he was given sainthood by the Catholic church? And no, I’m not a Catholic. I’m a Southern Baptist boy who was raised by parents who let me believe in Santa Claus, and we allowed our children to believe in Santa Claus. And we think Christianer-than-thou people are sadly misguided. And some Christianer-than-thou people seem to believe that allowing children to believe in Santa Claus are anti-Christians. How very pathetic.

No need to call yourself pathetic. St. Nicholas doesn’t live at the North Pole. a lie is a sin, and, Anti-Christian. When the memorial to Christ’s birth becomes something other than a memorial about Christ’s birth, it doesn’t interest me. Children aren’t born believeing in Santa Claus, someone has to lie to them, in order to “allow them to believe in Santa Claus.” You may lie to your kids, how pathetic. I don’t.

If you are 7 and still believe in this bull, you need to get your head examined... IMO. Yep, I am a Grinch... Yep. But, in all honesty, I feel the same about believing and teaching about Magic Underwear or the Holly Ghost...Told you, I am a Grinch...

Wow, one of the reasons Freepers cited your membership date is that folks who think it's governments job to debunk Santa Claus, the Holy (it's not Holly, but cute joke) Ghost and Mormons beliefs are rare. Personally I don't think it's any of the teacher's da*n business if second graders believe in Santa Claus.

I think you miss the point, the question is whether the government should be the arbiter of this “dispute”. “ “s cause I think most people would think this teacher is a jerk.

Been lurking for years. Decided to jump in when I recently read the thread “How long did you lurk ...…”. A lot of real smart people around here…

Obviously the process of osmosis didn't work in your case...........

Research the origins of Santa and see it’s not just innocent fun, it’s actually quite evil, and I have no problem telling kids there is no santa, it’s anti-biblical in a big way.

And what's with putting my subscription date at the top of your post. Do you have a point? If you have anything to say to me, say it or just shut up.

It's just showing that your are nothing but a self indulged NEWBIE@!

And I'll say anything I want to you NEWBIE as long as you continue to make a nuisance of yourself NEWBIE........

Perhaps you should take your smartass NEWBIE'ism to another thread since you've already worn out a welcome that hasn't even been extended to you.....

November 2008 showed that more than half the American electorate believes in Santa Clause.

THE DEFINITIVE answer to the question:

DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old.
Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
Papa says, ‘If you see it in THE SUN it’s so.’
Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus?

VIRGINIA O’HANLON.
115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET.”
********
VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that’s no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You may tear apart the baby’s rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

Stealing a child’s innocence is evil. Turning a child against his/her parents is evil. If you’re not capable of putting the child’s well being ahead of your overblown ego, you shouldn’t be allowed near children.

So sad in so many ways......So how does YOUR church and YOUR family celebrate Christmas, or do you? And out of curiosity, which church do you regularly attend?

By pulling the beards off mall Santas, and donating pre-wrapped lumps of coal to the Salvation Army?

Interesting that you would describe yourself a Grinch. In the end of course, the Grinch repented, and embraced the truth.

My God continue to hold you on path of your acceptance - one that ends in Joy.

Merry Christmas pilgrim!

You really ARE a Christianer-than-thou, aren’t you. I’d heard about you all. I’m not certain how your arrogance is poor in spirit, but, okay. That’s your choice.
