STOCKTON - A letter sent to Lincoln Unified teachers that may have sounded like it came from the Grinch who stole Christmas has become fodder for how far school districts are willing to go in recognizing the separation of church and state.
The letter from the Lincoln Unified district office told teachers not to display Santa Claus or poinsettias in order to maintain sensitivity toward those who don't celebrate Christmas.

Michigan produces more teachers than any other state. We could sure use some help when it comes to electing true conservatives here who can have an impact.
And Christians aren't allowed to share in that part.
Christmas trees were used by the German and Scandinavian settlers, some as early as the Revolutionary War period. Dutch colonists, from the mid-17th century, had Sinter Klaus, in his Medieval Bishop's costume, but "Santa Claus" in his present form dates from the mid-Victorian period (post-Civil War), having first been popularized in Britain by Prince Albert.
Poinsettias are a more recent arrival, although they were a common Christmas-season decoration in Mexico and other Latin American regions for a longer time. Any association with Christianity is in the mind of the viewer. You can find articles on a religious meaning to poinsettias, but the general point is something pretty and red in the winter.
Why do we have to stop celebrating Christmas the way we like simply because some liberals and people like you don't like when people like me celebrating Christmas the way we want? If you don't like Christmas three, giving presents, and others, it's up to you. Me, I like those things. And no, I don't buy that dichotomy that if we're into those then we don't understand the real meaning of Christmas. We can have both. The Lord has used Christmas threes, presents, etc., to bring people to know Him.

Yeah, please don’t hang me up on a technicality. Christmas trees and Santa Claus have been around a long time and poinsettias long enough and Christmas lights, Christmas songs, .....did you know they used to sing Christmas Hymns at Disneyland back in the 50s and 60s, maybe even 70s and 80s.
There’s a Youtube of a high school band on Main Street singing Joy to the World (or some other Christmas song) as they march down Main St. I believe it’s in the 60s.
But I think you got my point. The people who are offended by this are the purest of Narcissists. Self absorbed , self righteous, humbugs who live to take the joy out of life. It’s the mission of people who live Godless shallow petty lives, and it’s their religion as much as Christianity is to the Christian.
I would love to see the person, the utter humbug “administrator”...always an “administrator” who lives to control people and take the joy out of lives. What sorry lame A@# people in this world. Small little nothing people.
Yes, I got your point. I’m just being tiresomely pedantic, because that’s what I’m like. (As I always tell my students, *any* fact may turn out to be the one you need on an important test, so assimilate “eminent/imminent/immanent” before you leave class!)
Also, I was pointing out the absurdity of anyone’s being religiously “offended” by poinsettias, of all things.
And as to the rest of your post, I agree with your excellent invective.
So, dress the snowmen as Santa...and, use poinsettias for hands!
OK, but if there’s no Christmas, then make them work that day like it’s a normal day.
They can’t downplay the holiday and then expect to take it off, too.
(and btw, Congress declared, for better or worse, that Christmas is a holiday; and no school board can override
that)
Well, they are poisonous (though you'd have to eat a lot of them to actually die).
Also, Poinsett was a slaveowner and the Aztecs had human sacrifices (though they were a people of diversity).

Thanks Teacher...now excuse me while I see what invective means. Hopefully, it’s good! :)
Just think. These are the same commie bastards who used to call Newt Gingrich, “the Grinch” back in the 90s.
Some of the same people that wish to end the overt celebration of Christmas by Christians so as not to offend others, are the same ones who often profit from it. The store manager that tells his employees to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, needs to lose customers.
Those that want to muzzle Christmas and Christians and destroy the celebration that 90% of Americans still identify with, for the sake of political correctness, will understand only when they discover that profits might be at stake.
Any store that tells me Happy Holidays I don’t buy there. Actually our family has cut down significantly on buying imported stuff from China to give at Christmas.
Next to be banned, the colors red and green because they are deemed “Christmas colors”.
When I was in Elementary School, back in the Middle Ages, we always had Christmas symbols, esp. trees, snowflakes, and manger scenes.
What did I leave out? Hmm, my elementary school was about 80% Jewish, and many of our teachers were Jewish, and we loved the holidays.
Also had a Chanukah menorah. Never any complaints, no anti-Christian feelings, no anti-semitism, no nothing bad.
We all had a good time and learned about each others’ holidays. It didn’t kill us, make us go on “jihads” against non-believers, or raid villages and towns, as they do today in Iraq, Pakistan, Indonesia and Nigeria.
Jews and Christians must unite against the hateful atheists who want to start a religious war and create divisiveness among fellow Americans, as well as against the Sharists among the Moslem extremists in the US.
The modern story of Santa Claus is of very recent origin. St. Nicholas of much earlier church note was IIRC a real life cardinal who was said to have dropped coins into the smoke-holes of houses of poor children. (There were no traditional chimneys, but the holes were set up to allow smoke from an open hearth to be ventilated.) St. Nicholas once got so furious at a misbehaving bishop he reportedly boxed the bishop’s ears.
