Israel furious at Hillary Clinton's concern for democracy in country

Israeli government ministers have reacted with fury to comments made by Hillary Clinton expressing her concern for the state of democracy in Israel and the status of Israeli women.

The US Secretary of State reportedly criticised legislation proposed by Benjamin Netanyahu's government that would curb funding from international bodies to organisations working to promote human rights withn Israel.

She told the audience of US and Israeli officials on Saturday of her shock on hearing reports of gender segregation on buses operating in Jerusalem, which she claimed was "reminiscent of Rosa Parks", the African American woman who refused to give up her seat on to white passengers on a bus in 1950s America.

Mrs Clinton went on to claim that recent incidents of gender discrimination against female Israeli soldiers reminded her of the situation facing women in Iran.

Hillary's real problem is with Jews, specifically Orthodox Jews, who in many situations practice gender discrimination. While absurd, perhaps the comparison to Iran is a function of her, and her boss' affection for toltarian Islamic states. After all, they're working hard to create on in Egypt. Then again, she might just be dissed because Israel has had several female Prime Ministers, and the US electorate left her at the alter.

I tend to agree, but that inhibits the left from interfering with cross border electoral politics. Actually Israel isn't banning it, they're taxing it. But if, for example, the Clinton's want to send James Carville over again to campaign against Netanyahu, they don't want to pay a tax.
