Click on pic for past Navair pings. Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist. The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation. This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

More like - “when they’ve been built properly”. The last example, the “Charles de Gaulle” was years behind schedule, untold millions overbudget, and her first deployment was to sail directly back to the shipyard to have her flight deck lengthened so that she could actually operate her planes.

Brazil, if it can develop the very deep underwater oil drilling technology, is going to be flush with petro dollars. So they can provide the money to get the ships built.

The long pole in the tent is building the ships in Brazil.

Brazil has built surface combatants in the past in the frigate/destroyer displacement class. Building a conventional aircraft carrier will require the development of a lot of new naval shipbuilding infrastructure needed to fabricate it from the keel up. (Along with training tens of thousands of skilled shipyard workers.)

Maybe that is their intention.

Seems absurdly ambitious. At the moment they are struggling to keep a mere half dozen AF-1 Skyhawks operating for their present carrier
