A Christmas display outside the courthouse in Leesburg, VA featuring Santa Claus crucified on a cross was torn down by an angry resident in spite of arguments by elected leaders that the display was Constitutionally-protected free speech.
“I am shocked that the county would allow such a thing as a crucified Santa on the courthouse lawn,” Elizabeth McGuirk, a mother of three told Leesburg Today. She it would “seriously disturb my children.”

I take a Christian message from the display.
Christmas is about Christ and the reason he was born was to be crucified for our transgressions.
I’m surprised that such a Christian statement would be allowed in the first place

I have worked at our county courthouse for nearly 35 years. I would promptly march out and take it down. I would face the consequences and sleep well at night (probably in the county lockup) and take the next one down if it reappeared.
Correct! Our first step should be to properly pronounce Christ Mass during the Holy Days. That alone would pi$$ them off.

Yes, it is ironic that these weaselly government officials are insisting on “Holiday Trees’ instead of “Christmas Trees”.
“Holiday” is obviously just a different spelling/pronunciation of “Holy Day”.
“Holy” means “Dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purpose; sacred”.
A crucified Santa is freedom of speech but a crucified Jesus is offensive.

There needs to be some workable middle ground between beliefs (”forgiveness”; “turning the other cheek”) and societal realities (allowing miscreants, whose goal is to target one faith as the sole source of “evil” in the world, and to work ceaslessly to obliterate it), IMHO.

What kills me is that the ONLY time “people sit back” is when this stuff happens to Christians. These things do not happen to any other group without severe outrage and legal filings by the ACLU and so on. It is these same “protected “ groups who do the smeering. Ironic.

Why do people think that ‘forgiveness’ and ‘turning the other cheek’ mean that there should be no consequence for actions?
Forgiveness is NOT intended to be for the benefit of the perpetrator, it is to help the heart of the victim to mend. Holding on to hate or a grudge only hurts the one holding it.
Forgiveness does not imply ‘no consequences’. If one causes harm, then that needs redressed, as well as forgiven.

I hate to say it, but the fact of the matter is that those groups are often much better organized (and energized). And unfortunately, many people stand around forever grumbling about the latest insult they have been subjected to- rather than doing something productive about it.
Leftists and other radicals are born with an almost instinctive ability to smell vulnerability, and to exploit it. It is an eternal battle to combat this, IMO.
I want them to take note of how POd Samo Heha was at the idea of some funny little foreign puke invading his space. The rest of those guys aren’t as friendly and polite.

I think there are a fair number of people who may miss the distinctions you raise. At the very least, I think the notion that ‘Forgiveness’ implies ‘no consequences’, is how radicals view things, which is why they feel- correctly or not- that they can continue to attack with impunity.
