It’s the last thing two burglary suspects expected to hear when they broke into a Coon Rapids home. From within the house came the unmistakable sound of a pump shotgun. At the other end of that gun was a 22-year-old woman who is nine weeks pregnant.
The young woman asked not to be identified because the two suspects are still at large. However, she says when the men ignored her barking pit bull and black lab, and broke through a kitchen door, she had no other choice but to chamber a round into the 12-gauge shotgun.
There’s perhaps no other sound that commands as much respect and fear. The young woman at the business end of that gun was home alone and prepared to protect herself.

So do I. The only way she cold have done better was two dead burglars. Not only helping herself but her community at the same time.
An 870 is a good cure for home invasion.
On a side note...I believe that this was a local job. Somebody knew that she was 22, alone and pregnant and figured that they could bull-rush the two dogs.
Had she not pulled the gauge, it would have been interesting to see if the pooches would have regrouped after the initial crash through the door and chewed some ass....
My tactical guns have no safety, when in panic mode, you don’t want a safety mode. Oh, I forgot my AR has a safe mode. Hand guns have passive safety only.

I’ve heard that said before, but IMO, going for a weapon of any kind at 3am is likely to give your position away.
In my case, the intruder still wouldn’t know my specific position, and that is an important fact in my bedroom. Plus, there is a 90 degree turn in the hallway, so as soon as they poke their head around that corner, I have the advantage.
There is more to my plan that I won’t reveal in public, but I’ve rehearsed it thousands of times in my head so it will be automatic if an intruder ever breaks in.

i agree. if you are in my house by breaking and entering, i assume you are there to do harm!
They must have REALLY wanted something inside to see the 2 dogs (one being a pitbull) and yet STILL want to come in.
