A month ago I was at a full day training. The instructor looked at the assortment of handguns that we brought in. Then he said that it doesn't matter if you have a 9mm or .45 or anything in between. What matters is timing and shot placement and use of cover. The rest of the day we were focusing on exactly that.

I’d be nice too when surrounded with armed students! Great tact on the Instructors part! Calibre matters, but profiency must be present there first.......I left that part unstated. Carry what you will.... mine has always begun with a 4.......since 1969...... realizing that should have been your choice in a gunbattle is a little late......
