Alec Baldwin: Booted from plane for playing game
Yahoo News ^ | 12/06/2011 | Gordon Cameron

Posted on 12/06/2011 6:46:25 PM PST by Enchante

Actor Alec Baldwin was removed from an American Airlines flight leaving Los Angeles for New York on Tuesday when he was apparently too engrossed in a game of Zynga's "Words With Friends" to power down his iPad....

The incident caused a one-hour delay in the flight and kicked off a flurry of Internet chatter.

The incident is seemingly trivial except that it is such an illustration once again of the "they think they're so special" syndrome with our self-styled liberal elitists.

Not only that he did it, and delayed the flight an hour for everyone else, but then he has the nerve to make a Twitter fuss blaming it all on American Airlines and trying to hurt their image.

Well, after all. He’s a big left wing movie and TV star who called his own daughter a pig. Therefore, he deserves special treatment/sarc.

It only makes me want to use American Airlines more. We need to start complaining to Capital One and make them drop Baldwin as their spokesman. Bring back the Vikings instead.

He probably thought the Airline Attendant looked like his daughter and had flashbacks. He’s a sick freak..Id say he should move to Venezuela but I think even they would kick his ass straight back

Good grief. Baldwin is such a big baby. Too bad they didn’t let the couple of hundred other people headed to NYC on that fly show him just how much they appreciated the lengthy delay.

He took a later American flight....why didn’t they bar him from the airline? That’s what they all need to start doing! “We retain the right to deny service to anyone of our choosing - especially if they’re big *****.”

He’s a big left wing movie and TV star who called his own daughter a pig.

Evidently his anger issues haven't abated.

His behavior is that of a spoiled brat, really no different than a young child having a temper tantrum. The flight attendant must have realized that and gave him a justly deserved time out....right out the door of the plane. Good for her!

Dear Shannon,

sorry I’m not too good at this but, well, I am a Flight Attendant and I am a male. I know it is popular to believe all Flight Attendants are female but that’s just plain sexistism. So please Shannon, in the future, try to remember that it could have been a man who asked Mr. Baldwin politely to cease using his computer pad. Frankly, if it was me, I would’ve asked him to dish on his ex Kim, who I think is just fabulous!!

Thanks for listening. Oh, did you hear? American Airlines went bankrupt. Damn. Kicked out of capitalism!

This is so WRONG! They should of not removed him from the flight before takeoff.

They should of done it during flight....

He’s worth what, $50 million?

I’m surprised he didn’t use NetJets. All the privacy of your own private jet without the expense (or so I’ve heard).

And no TSA.

I guess Alec is cheap as well as obnoxious.

May I see the hands of everyone who believes Baldwin was kicked off simply because he 'forgot' to power off his iPad? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Yahoo's kissing up. My guess is that Baldwin played the "don't you know who I am, you #@&%$# pile of commoners?" card a little too loudly and to long and was kicked off for causing a disturbance and being disruptive. AND maybe refusing to power off his iPad. Forgetting to power it off was a long-forgotten faux pas by the time the Air Marshals arrived.

The odd thing is that there is no scientific reason why such devices need to be turned off. Airlines have this irrational policy, and it’s their fault.

The odd thing is that there is no scientific reason why such devices need to be turned off. Airlines have this irrational policy, and it’s their fault.

Actually, Mythbusters did a pretty good episode on this. No, there's no particular evidence that cell phones or other devices will interfere with the flight controls or instruments on airplanes. HOWEVER... Given a.) the litigious nature of the world, and b.) it is virtually impossible to fully test all of the possible combinations of avionics and consumer electronics that are available. Add to that that new devices and new avionics are being added to the roster on an almost weekly basis. SO: there is no practical way that the FAA or the airline industry can positively ~certify~ that x device is safe on all airplanes, even though it probably is perfectly safe, and so they have little choice but to make these rules about using the devices during key periods of the flight like take-off and landing. Makes sense, given the legal climate.

You realize how idiotic that is, right? You could say the same for wearing the color pick, or carrying an eel-skin wallet.

The reality is that easily 10% of phones are on at those times (it’s easy to forget) and that if there was a shred of evidence that the highly engineered avionics systems (which reside in small area bristling with other avionics) would be affected, it would be illegal to even bring electronics on board.

This is an airline rule, not FAA regulation. They could justify it based on passenger attention being required for potential emergency response, but then they’d have to ban sleeping and reading.

I would have booted Alec off the plane after it had reached its cruising altitude.

Air Marshalls....Alec Baldwin, pitching a tantrum...escorted off the plane...

Had I been there, I would LAUGHED MY ASS OFF at him, loudly and cheerfully. I would even POINT at him while laughing (yeah, I’m that crass...unashamedly so when it comes to laughing at libtards).

He is, after all, one of those instantly recognizable lefty douchebag TV/movie personalities.

It's been well known for years that Baldwin has severe "anger management" issues.... American Airlines has now provided the crew's account of the incident, which shows that with the plane ready for take-off Baldwin's reckless behavior had escalated the situation far beyond the initial "won't turn off the iPad" situation:

American Airlines Responds to Baldwin Story

He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked. They immediately contacted the cabin crew to check on the situation." The airline added, "The passenger was extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language

one time ping for new developments

I know it’s a trivial and stupid “Hollywood” story, except that it did inconvenience a couple of hundred fellow citizens with Baldwin’s “don’t you know who I am” tantrum.

I figured there was more to the story, and that there was probably some serious and inappropriate confrontation with the flight attendant, etc., for him to get kicked off the plane.

Sure enough, AA has taken the remarkable step of providing some of the crew’s side of the story.....

and it is UGLY.....
