Reporting from Washington— Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton called on world leaders for the first time Tuesday to stop discrimination against gays and lesbians, announcing that the United States would use diplomacy and $3 million in aid to help expand the rights of gay people around the world.
In a speech to mark Human Rights Day, which is celebrated Saturday, Clinton declared that protecting the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people is "now one of the remaining human rights challenges of our time" and compared it to the battles for women's rights, racial equality and religious freedom.
Speaking at the United Nations' human rights body in Geneva, she noted that obstacles to gender equality in much of the world "rest on deeply held personal, political, cultural and religious beliefs."
"Some seem to believe it is a Western phenomenon, and therefore people outside the West have grounds to reject it," Clinton said. "Well, in reality, gay people are born into and belong to every society in the world."
She challenged other governments to join U.S. efforts against gender discrimination hours after President Obama directed U.S. agencies working overseas to help combat the criminalization of sexual orientation and to enhance efforts to protect gay and lesbian refugees and asylum seekers.
Clinton announced the launch of a Global Equality Fund to assist civil organizations that promote equal rights for gays abroad. She said the U.S. had committed more than $3 million to start the fund.
The initiative builds on the Obama administration's effort to promote the rights of gays and lesbians at home. The Pentagon this year dismantled its ban on gays serving openly in the military, and Obama recently directed the federal government not to defend a law that defines marriage as between one man and one woman.

In school I was tormented for years by 4 nasty boys who were always saying “fruit” and “fairy” at each other. Then I was made miserable by 3 large Polish Catholic girls. Finally there was a boy in junior high and high school who was always making nasty remarks about my female body parts. Our family was poor and I wore hand-me-downs from my mother’s adult friends. I know I am straight. I was married for 44 years until my husband died, and have now been in a great relationship for 5 years.
Upon reflection I realize the 4 boys were also poor. One, the worst, had a skinny rat face, malnutrition, foetal alcohol syndrome??. Another who often sat near me due to alphabetic seating often smelled like no one had ever taught him to wipe his butt properly. The 3 girls went to Catholic school which was really rough in those days. Regarding the last boy, my favorite teacher said to me one day, “You shouldn’t let X bother you so, his father is in a wheelchair, and he has to take care of himself at home.” The next time X said something nasty to me I just looked at him with a look of pity and he never did it again.
Granted there is some bullying connected with sexual identity, but there are plenty of other reasons as well.
I am so tired of this crap...As are, I suspect, most people. The Republicans MUST make the Democrats’ relentless promotion of sexual deviancy a central point of attack in the 2012 campaign.

The world is getting flushed, and our biggest concern is who is blowing who?
How can such a small minority of perverts its wield so much power? The homosexuals are the most powerful group of extremists out there.

Mayhap because many people feel sorry for the so called “disenfranchised” and fail to realize the perversion.
In Obama’s world $3million is practically nothing. It seems as though that is significant.

The world should focus on discriminating against Marxists.
Obama’s poll numbers must really be in the toilet. They’re trying to shore up the homosexual vote, the race vote, the baby killer vote, the bestiality vote, etc. all in one week. They need to do something about the bigamy vote, or Mitt will take that and possibly some of the homosexual vote because they would surely like to be able to marry more than one.
