Drones Cleared For Domestic Use Across The US
Autonomous Nonprofit Organization “TV-Novosti” ^ | 11/29/2011

What do you know about drones? You know drones — those robotic, unmanned planes that fire missiles for the American military across Afghanistan, Pakistan and anywhere else the United States needs to get away with murder. Well if you don’t know too much, don’t worry, that’ll change soon. The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into rules that will bring the controversial aircraft into the country, creating an United States airspace buzzing with tiny, robot planes to look over every inch of American soil — and maybe more. An article published Tuesday in the Los Angeles Times reveals that new drone planes could be coming domestically quite soon, as both law enforcement and the agricultural sector are seeing benefits in keeping an arsenal of unmanned planes ready to patrol the skies. For farmers, drones could bring a new method of pumping pesticides into fields of crops from above; for the cops, the aircraft could conduct surveillance over suspected criminals (think police chopper but remote controlled). The Times reports that utility companies see a benefit in drones as well, giving them a new set of eyes to monitor oil, gas and water pipelines.

Stand by for collisions between the drones and VFR general aviation aircraft.

... And the distinction between the police and the military further erodes. Next: Hellfire missile strikes on US citizens on US soil.

Don't have much of a problem with this depending on how it's used. If used to watch the border or pipelines and power grids no problem here. Curious to see when the ACLU will go crazy. Not gonna happen since this administration is loved by them.

I wonder if these things are visible to the binocular-eyed?

I could envision a domestic resistance force who’s purpose is to locate and watch the watchers.

Of course, this is a natural progression of the erosion of privacy when people clamor for security cameras in “high risk areas” of the inner city. It’s JUST a camera. If you’re not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. Sheesh.

—Stand by for collisions between the drones and VFR general aviation aircraft.—

I heard the FAA is already talking about altitude restrictions, etc. Anybody that has seen the six and eight propeller electric hovering craft know that, if there was a need, these things could become as ubiquitous as cell phones. Ultimately they are ridiculously cheap and with simple GPS could be sent anywhere and return to the sender at a specific time. all the while recording audio and video - and anything else an on board sensor could sense.

You may want to keep your curtains drawn while making love to your wife.

Surprise....there already here! In Montgomery county Texas, the sheriffs office has acquired an unmanned drone courtesy of a Dept. of Homeland Security grant.

The City of Tomball Texas received similar grants and have beefed up surveillance capabilities as well.

Take a look at the link.

It goes without saying that the definition of “suspected criminals” will expand without limit to include unpermitted home repairs and improvements, lawn-watering during “drought conditions”, unauthorized gatherings (we will remember the time when we called them “barbeques”), use of non-carbon-compliant lawn mowers, burning wood on the wrong day, doing an oil change on your own car in your own driveway, etc.

The step after that will be routine “precautionary” logging of your activities, as we are seeing with license plate readers.

Armed drones on US soil?

Now I have to figure out what to do, and if there is a better place to go.

Yep. It’s bad enough dealing with “weekend warriors” and wet behind the ears commuter pilots with their heads buried in charts and checklists. Now, we have to keep an eye out for drones, too. What genius came up with this idea? Hopefully, the guidance system will be coupled to TCAS.
