Breaking: Blago gets 14 year sentence
Hot Air ^ | DECEMBER 6, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

Rod Blagojevich’s sentencing started off with a surprise admission from his legal team that acknowledged the disgraced Illinois governor had engaged in corruption — which was followed by a lengthy apology in which Blagojevich claimed he didn’t realize that he was doing anything wrong. The strategy apparently impressed the judge only enough to reduce the potential sentence from 20 years, but still slammed Blagojevich with a 14-year sentence:

Disgraced former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was sentenced Wednesday to 14 years in prison after making a final plea for leniency, acknowledging his guilt and saying, “I am unbelievably sorry.”

“I believe he did, in fact, accept [responsibility],” U.S. District Judge James Zagel said in announcing how long Blagojevich should spend in prison after being convicted of 18 corruption charges that included attempting to sell or trade an appointment to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the election of President Barack Obama.

Human sacrifice to the Chicago Machine, now relocated to D.C.

Not that he didn’t deserve it.

No love lost for Rod. He is a product of his environment. The only thing is that 95% of elected officials in this country should be on the bus with him. How do any of them get away with it?

So Blago gets 14 years in the slammer, and Bernie walks. What a travesty this country is.

I just think this is pretty pointless. Why put the guy in jail for 14 years when plenty of street hoods get 1-3? It’s not like he’s going to commit this crime again. Save the prison space for someone who deserves it and let Blago go home.

Watch “Boss” on Starz starring Kelsey Grammer to get a primer

on how “The Chicago Way” works.

It’s very timely in explaining what happened to Cain, Palin,

anyone who threatens “the Machine”.

I’m surprised that this series is allowed to be shown.

Can Obama give him an executive pardon at the end of his term?

In truth, he’ll never serve the 14 years. Blago will be pardoned before Obama leaves office, after spending less than a year in prison.

I love seeing an anti-gun Brady mouthpiece go to jail. Almost as enjoyable as hearing about their demise.

Guess who Obama will "pardon" on his way out.

Unless, of course, Obama gets what he deserves ... Impeachment.

The release will be conditional on keeping his mouth shut. He will not return to prison if he squeals, he will cease to breath and take nourishment
