Gingrich: John Bolton will be my secretary of state
The Washington Times ^ | Dec. 7, 2011 | Stephen Dinan and Seth McLaughlin

Newt Gingrich promised conservatives on Tuesday he would ask former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton to be his secretary of state if he’s elected president next year, according to several of those who met with him

Hours later he repeated that vow publicly to the Republican Jewish Coalition, winning a round of applause.

“If he accepts it, I will ask John Bolton to be secretary of state,” the former House speaker said.

During the closed-door meeting in Arlington, Mr. Gingrich spoke and fielded questions for about two hours from 70 conservatives, and they said afterward that they came away impressed.

One questioner asked Mr. Gingrich how he could assure conservatives he would be trustworthy, which is when he replied that he would tap Mr. Bolton, a hero to conservatives whom President George B. Bush named as a recess appointment to the U.N. ambassadorship after the Senate refused to confirm him.

This is a brilliant move by Gingrich, start showing exactly what a Gingrich administation would look like.

Romney could never do this, because he would probably like to keep Hillary on as Secretary of State :)

Go Gingrich!

Bolton’s a good guy but is Gingrich? Is Gingrich a conservative in insider’s clothing or an insider in conservative clothing? Somehow I get mixed messages.

That would be one the best things to happen to U.S. Foreign Policy in a VERY long time. John Bolton doesn’t get steamrolled by our enemies (unlike Hilary) he would steamroll them!

OK that alone would make be consider voting for Newt. Of course Bolton as president would be better, but I don't think America is ready for that yet.

It turned me into a Newt supporter.... It got better.

This means we have to work even harder to take back the Senate. Without a Senate majority, Bolton as Sec. State is a pipe dream.

Even though this would be my choice as SoS, I wouldn’t feed the flames where countries that don’t like Bolton would funnel money to an Obama campaign. Now I wonder who he’s thinking about for Attorney General. I hope Chuck Norris is on the short list.

That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

Willing to be convinced about the rest of his platform, but this plank is a major step toward sanity.

Watching Bolton mop up liberal presstitutes like beer-foam from his fat stache is worth a vote for Newt.

As a supporter of homosexual “marriage,” I don’t know why John Bolton would not continue the gay agenda of Hillary Clinton on the international stage.

No thanks, Newt.

Gingrich/West – 2012

“Allen West would certainly be someone you’d look at,” Gingrich told a NBC affiliate.

West responded, “We don’t know what the future holds, but I’m always willing to serve my country.”

Florida Republican Rep. Allen West may be the Republican candidate for vice president in 2012.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said at a Republican Palm Beach County fundraiser that if he won the Republican presidential nomination, he would strongly consider a Floridian as his running mate.

“Allen West would certainly be someone you’d look at,” Gingrich told NBC affiliate WPTV.

West responded, “We don’t know what the future holds, but I’m always willing to serve my country.”

“I have to pray about it and I have to clear it with my wife and two daughters,” he added. “I never thought that seven years ago when I retired here I’d be a United States Congressman.”

Elected in the November midterm election, West is one of two Republican African-Americans serving in Congress. He has rapidly emerged as a national conservative star.

I figure Bolton would put some of the lefties in the State Department in the unemployment line where they belong. Bush had neither the will nor the nads to do that. It is long, long overdue.

Perfect pick! Only people like Bolton can dig us out of the foreign policy morass we're in. He would be the proverbial new sheriff in town.

Gingrich/West – 2012

See I told you it got better :)

Now we just put Palin in for interior, because she is the perfect person to control oil drilling. Rand (not Ron) Paul at Treasury to bring the money supply under control. Dennis Miller as press secretary, because I hate reporters and watching their heads explode would be fun.

Romney could never do this, because he would probably like to keep Hillary on as Secretary of State :)

We should recall, in all of this, that Hillary Clinton's State Department couldn't predict virtually any of the Arab government changes, nor could it be bothered to even issue travel warnings, much less actually deliver warden messages to Americans in Egypt while the country became unglued around them. Diplomatic gaffe after gaffe.
