9 arrests in wild Staten Island incident, as unruly crowd overruns cops, police say ^ | Wednesday, December 07, 2011 | John M. Annese

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Firefighters came to the rescue of two police officers outnumbered in Mariners Harbor today, in a scene so chaotic that New York’s Bravest employed a truck-mounted deluge gun -- a water cannon -- to fend off the marauding group of teens.

The scene unfolded at about 3:30 p.m. in front of 83 Harbor Rd., where a large group of teenagers had amassed to confront a teenage girl who lives in the residence.

By the time it was over, two officers were sent to Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton, for treatment, and nine teens ended up under arrest, said Inspector John Denesopolis, the 120th Precinct's commanding officer. Police also recovered a starter pistol, he said.

The officers were OK, but "banged up," Denesopolis said.

"It was chaos," said one neighbor, who lives across the street but declined to give his name, stating that he feared retaliation. "The yelling got louder and louder and louder... There was probably 50 to 55 kids out here, and they were challenging one girl."

The group was threatening the girl, yelling at her to come out and fight, witnesses told the Advance. That sparked calls to 911, and two officers, one male, the other female, arrived at the scene.

The male officer attempted to arrest a member of the crowd, and the teens turned on him, knocking him to the ground.

"The kids were on top of the cop while the cop was arresting the first person," the neighbor said.

When his female partner tried to intervene, witnesses said, she was knocked down as well. As she was being attacked, she shouted for assistance on her police radio.

Egad, just looking at those dreary pictures makes me drop on my knees to thank God that I am a Texan.

Pappy, it didn't get less "inner city" than Staten Island, a beautiful suburb that just happens to be trapped within the Borough System of NYC.

At least that the way it was until large numbers of Norwegians, as shown in the news photos, invaded the place and turned various neighborhoods into hell zones. The island is also a Mafia stronghold and I am depressed and disappointed that the Mob were unable to prevent these Viking barbarian invasions.

What the hell are we paying them for? The role of organized crime is to suppress un-organized and dis-organized crime, is it not? I wanna see some teeth in the street. Capeesh?

The civil society is breaking down. Our country is like a forest where the dead wood and underbrush has been allowed to build up to dangerous levels. All it will take to start a conflagration is one spark and just like in a fire in such a forest, not just the dead wood will be destroyed. That spark will be the election in 2012 if Obama is not re-elected. And by dead wood I’m not referring to a specific race but to the unproductive of all races.

And this neighborhood is not the worst part of the infamous ‘north shore’ of Staten Island .

Around 30,000 people marched on Dallas' city hall last year to protest against Arizona-style legislation against illegal immigrants.

Are Dallas and Houston any better?

I believe dennsiw was refering to the weather which is much better. As to the roving bands of feral humans, no not really.

They’ve been reporting a lot about young people coming back home after college, like it’s a “failure to launch” scenario. I look at it as, hard times mean more multiple generations under one roof families. I think it’s a good thing - good times means everybody wants their own crib etc.

At my station (not New York) we had specific orders from on high never to use it in a crowd situation.

If they hadn't used it, the cops would probably have gotten a serious beat-down. If I'm outnumbered 50 to 2 by a violent mob, I'm going to consider deadly force to be justified to protect my life.

My nephew told me last night about a friend of his who has quit his own apartment to return to the family farm. This young man has a good job and makes a decent living but decided that with everything happening in this nation, he feels more secure at his parents.

Particularly as he has an automatic rifle on a stand bolted to an upstairs room’s floor. He said it was to facilitate homestead’s defense when the SHTF!

Are these officers no longer armed?

This is Democrat-controlled New York. They probably figured they would go to jail for murder if they shot any of the mob.

I agree...our family has had several conversations about such things if things keep heating up. Might even have to begin getting them into play in the near future if things don’t turn around.

I am afraid that you are right, my friend. We're witnessing the outcomes of the generations-long assault on our culture, on all that we hold dear. The line of reasoning and the habits of thought that uphold our liberty and our the essence of our humanity has all but been erased in the hearts and minds of so many of our fellow citizens.

"Capitalism has taught us that no one is ever going to give us anything. You have to take it."
Occupier Mark Paschal

And so, the new moral default, encompassed in those two short sentences. Civilizational ruin in less than a paragraph. What they hate is Western civilization. What they're going to get is this in its stead.
