PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (AP) — A snafu marred the critical moment of silence Wednesday at the Pearl Harbor ceremony observing the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attack....

...But on Wednesday, emcee Leslie Wilcox was still speaking at 7:55 a.m., even as the Hawaii Air National Guard's F-22's roared overhead on schedule 42 seconds later.

anyone know more about this?

It seems like something that should not happen, even if they start late there should be a fixed break for the moment of silence, no matter what.

Not related to the post, but from childhood, FDR’s
deceleration of war has been my favorite presidential speech, even though he was a Dimocrap.

I was wondering did the White House make a statement about the anniversary or not? I did not hear anything from the President. I know any other President might have mentioned it.

Eileen Martinez, a National Park Service spokeswoman, said the ceremony started a few minutes late because twice as many people attended the ceremony as expected.

That pushed back the program leading up to the moment of silence.

Martinez praised Lesie Wilcox, a former TV anchor and current president of PBS Hawaii, for the professional way she ran the ceremony.

PBS rewrites history.

Speaker Wilson doesn't have the sense to stop for a moment of silence.

yes I noticed she was a PBS flack.....

Stopping at the appropriate time for the moment of silence, with the flyover coming on a fixed schedule, would seem to be a “no brainer” — how could they screw that up???? That is not a “professional” way to run the memorial ceremony.

I enjoy Homer Simpson’s post on the 70 year anniversary of World War 2 on this site. Today should be great with the articles highlighting the events of yesterday.

I have a problem with every national radio news outlet, ABCBSNBC and especially FOX who run recorded clips of the ObamaAllah’s voice at almost every broadcast on the hour and half hour as if they were announcements of the attack on Pearl Harbor rather than political comments.
I did not hear any comments by him yesterday re Pearl Harbor and a Google search shows that the White House issued a proclamation but no live comment yesterday.
I have no doubt that he will view the scene of the Attack from Air Force One when he flies to his golf playing vacation; and while whispering Allah Akbar to himself.

He probably said something like Hawaii was Asian, thus owned by Japan.

Well, I have not been in the USSA since 2004.
When I was there I had satellite TV, and FOX was my only news.

Only in the last few months have I had a new satellite service (Gsat) that has FOX news, and Aljazera, but NO Commie News Network.
I had refused Dreamsat, because it had only CNN and British Babble Corp. for news.

I watch mostly movies, history and Natl.Geo channels

if O’bummer said anything- it would be to apologize for
winning the war and nuking the japs-

then he would try to give away a few trillion to some
of the last survivors.

Well, I monitor the “Topix” internet forums.
All of the little Communist that post there absolutely
despise FOX, calling it FAUX News.
They do, however, love PMSNBC and CNN.

If the Marxist hate FOX then it must be doing something right.

It should have been good - his speech writers had at least 4 to 6 months to work on it.

You are of course totally wrong. Last night on the History Channel there was a two hour special on the day after Pearl Harbor attack. It was actually about the 24 hours following the attack.

The speech and when and Where it should be given were covered in depth. The drafting took several hours and many eyes. FDR wanted it to be short, others especially Hull wanted it longer and more comprehensive. The draft with pencil corrections was shown. I believe that draft is on display in New Orleans at the WW II museum.

The speech as given lasted 6 1/2 minutes

Fox News is pathetic these days - they push a lot of sex-related sleaze as actual news, and they are providing a platform for people like Rove to promote Mitt Romney.

Come to think of it, not sure which is more sleazy - pretending sex-related stories about celebrities are news or Karl Rove and his gang promoting Romney.

Ooooooh, your source is the History Channel. Can't argue with that.
I stand corrected ............................ NOT.

I also cited the WW II museum. Of course to those who don’t get TV under their rock, the History channel is not a valid source

You refer of course to the position that Roosevelt knew the attack was coming, and did nothing to stop it.

A position that will probably still be argued 100 years from now.
