Gingrich on Inauguration Day: Repeal Obamacare, Sarbanes-Oxley, Dodd-Frank
By Mallie Jane Kim
December 7, 2011

If former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is elected president, he has a busy first day planned.

At his speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition's 2012 Republican Presidential Candidates Forum this afternoon, Gingrich urged attendees to help vote a large Republican majority into the House and Senate in 2012 so Congress could immediately pass repeals of the Affordable Care Act and the financial regulations Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank.

They should do so early in January, "before I am sworn in," he said. "Bring it out during the inaugural so we can finish signing it."

And within hours of his inauguration, he'd move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which would signal the United States believes Israel owns the contested capitol city. Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama have all delayed moving the embassy for diplomatic and national security concerns.

He should, upon dropping his right hand after taking the oath, get out his cellphone and call the Administrator of the EPA, Lisa Jackson, and tell her to clean out her desk and be out of the building by COB. Next stop: Department of Education.

The usual naysayers will soon arrive with their ‘Newt failed’ mantra.

It is unrealistic to claim that a single individual has/had total power over the other 434 House members or can/could influence the additional 100 Senators.

Newt has had time to reflect on the impossible dream he attempted - and learned the lessons of compromise and good intentions. Jealousy, backstabbing and megalomania.

Reality check:
The world is a small place inhabited by billions of humans; divided into sovereign states having ancient grudges. Those billions have multiple religious factions, countless problems and agendas from starvation to climate scientists/fanatics, hundreds of languages, import and export inter-dependencies. All interfaced with our domestic policies and often in conflict with the Constitution.

It takes wisdom, patience and intellect to examine all the pressing concerns of our Nation; its reduced position in the world and the best course for our future foreign and domestic.

Newt’s commentary and explantion of these complexities is being confused with advocacy. I have confidence that Newt Gingrich has the patriotism, the experience and intelligence to make the right decisions for America and the conviction to influence legislators who believe, as he does, in this Nation’s history of liberty and justice.

I think you can pretty much take that to the bank. I believe Newt will clean house and get rid of these progressives right of the bat.

We have to give President Gingrich what he needs: strong conservative majorities in the house and senate.

Not only to enable these announced repeals, but to keep Gingrich as conservative as possible.

One way it could be done with only simple majorities in both House and Senate -

Form committees to seriously investigate Obama's ineligibility for the Presidency - (it is irrelevant where he was born - his father was not a US citizen.).

The committees and the bodies find him to have been ineligible.

Then they declare everything he did, everyone he appointed, everything he signed to be null and void.

The Dems and media will raise a big stink, but the economy will rocket forward.

FWIW, although Newt supported Gramm-Leach-Bliley, he now regrets that and would probably be open to repealing it and/or re-implementing that portion of Glass-Steagal that it repealed.

Yes! SOX is a disaster, and has probably led to more fraud than any other regulatory attempt. It has made many lawyers fantastically wealthy, however, so it probably has its supporters.

This thread points to exactly what appeals in Newt. Those who weren’t around to see his genius in action in 1994 shouldn’t doubt it. Why the Republicans threw him overboard I’m not sure but they did.

Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t my kind of guy, and I don’t ‘like him’ but we may just NEED him right now.

And later that evening, between the inauguration balls, he could sign Executive Orders shutting down the Dept. of Education, the Dept. of Energy, and the EPA. That would be a pretty good first day’s work.

I am so excited Newt has already named Bolton! Newt knows who to get rid of but I would suggest replacing the czars with his own covering their same areas whose sole job would be to find every last person and changes Obama’s men instituted to reverse them and replace. One thing to remember, political appointees are gone immediately but Obama’s people in civil service jobs he has to get rid of must follow civil service rules and can’t be done at the snap of fingers. Jerusalem recognized...I’ll be so happy.

So what happens when Congress doesn’t pass repeals of those three Acts? I don’t see Republicans picking up the fifteen Senate seats that they would need to avert a filibuster. What will a President Gingrich do then? What kind of Executive leadership should we expect from him if all this has not already been done for him when he takes office? I don’t see him addressing the reality of that.

If Newt keeps blowing me kisses with common sense proposals I may have to vote for him.

If Newt is president the leadership of this country will come from a man who loves our country; believes the constitution was a miracle; who calls Islam’s war against us what it is; and believes that our rights come from God and we were founded as a Christian nation. Less important, but still important is he does not fear or respect msm.

The only way he will beat Obama is when they debate he needs to first tell the American people the promises Obama made, the actual result of the promises and then what he will do to eliminate the problems.

Obama promised lower healthcare cost if Obamacare was passed which it did. The prices didn't go down as was promised, they skyrocketed. Now is time to eliminate the reason it skyrocketed, Obamacare.

Great....only the damage has already been done. G-L-B is what gave us TBTF during that wonderful autumn of 2008 and all that it has wrought while in the meantime, Newt gets cozy with Nazi over AGW and now claims that this too is just a mistake.
