DALLAS -- Albert Pujols has agreed to a 10-year, $250 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Thursday.

The deal includes a full no-trade clause, which Pujols had been seeking and may have been a sticking point in his negotiations with the Miami Marlins.

Good riddance Albert! We offered him a nine year at $220M with an option for year ten. This guy is making the biggest mistake of his career. He was worshipped here in STL. He will banged up in five years and probably took the deal so he could finish his career as a DL.

Thanks Albert, you just allowed us a WHOLE bunch of room to get a shortstop, relievers and naturally your replacement.

I was duck hunting with a guy last weekend that installed his swimming pool. Said that him and his wife treated the crew like crap, wasn’t friendly at all and said his kid’s were not allowed to play with the neighborhood kids.

I wonder if he even considered that. I’m assuming his agent gets a cut of the total contract and so pushed for as high a number as possible not taking into consideration the much, much higher taxes of California.

“Fielder to the Cards then?”

######

Nope.

Lance Berkmann to 1B, and emerging slugger, and World Series Hero Supporting Actor Allen Craig to RF.

Rumor here in Cleveland is that Tribe closer Chris Perez will now go to the Angels for 1B Kendry Morales.

So, let me get this straight.
(1) We get 11 years of Hall-of-Fame production for a total of about $112 million, and the Angels get 10 years of declining production for $250 million?
(2) We get to find out that, for Pujols, it really WAS just about the money? We always wondered what his motivation was... and now we know.
(3) Instead of crippling our payroll, we now get to invest the money in other needed areas (SS, 2B, OF, bullpen)>
...
I’m doing cartwheels of joy over here. Buh-bye, Albert. Don’t let the door hit ya, where the good Lord split ya.

ya know....till just a few seconds ago I thought that Barry Bonds ever showing his face on the streets of Pittsburgh again would produce the most brutal sports reunion in history.

But you St. Louis people have just forced me to rethink that.

Definitely not good for the Rangers, but not a death blow to the Division title.

Now if the Angels get Wilson or more pitching, then they will have the better team, at least on paper.

The Rangers are screwed.

Not really...however, CJ Wilson is screwed.

Sounds logical, though I thought Perez (also a Cardinals farm product, BTW), was firmly entrenched as the Indians closer

As a Tribe fan this made me snicker. The Indians are looking to cut payroll so the only thing that is "Entrenched" is their race for last in their division.

Angels just acquired CJ Wilson. As a Rangers fan: good riddance, pretty boy. (Hope Angels’ clubhouse has a full length mirror and a gold-plated throne in their clubhouse or there’s gonna be trouble.) haha

Pujols has never exactly struck me as being the overly friendly type. The guy hardly ever says a word to anyone. I’m pretty sure he’s going back to the Dominican Republican after his career is over.

Sad.

Some Clubs can’t afford to field a major league roster and then teams like the Yankees, LeftSox and Angels can afford to be grossly inefficient with their resources.

I sometimes wonder how MLB survives when the foundational rules of the game are rigged.

Dayum. Was not expecting him to go there. 10 year deal? He still has great years left but there is a very good chance they will be vastly overpaying him during the back end of the deal.

I’m glad he didn’t go to frigging Miami!

To all St.Louis fans which I am one too.

If Albert would have stayed in St.Louis He would have retired a legend with a statue in front of Bush stadium and who knows where else.

Now,all he is an over paid ball player with an ego bigger that his ability as a player.

The Rangers are screwed.

Far from it....the Angels look like they want to throw money around, team chemistry be damned.

“Who else scares anyone in the Angels batting order? They will rue the day they didn’t allocate big money for their pitching staff.”

Trumbo has developed into a real power hitter. And Kendrys Morales is still a possibility if he can return from that serious leg injury from two years ago. The problem here is that Trumbo, Morales and Pujols all play first base. For pitching the Angels just picked up CJ Wilson.

Where they are still weak is in their bullpen. The 2002 Angels had adequate pitching but a deep bullpen. I don’t see them returning to the World Series if they don’t find three relievers capable of closing a game.

They signed CJ Wilson too. Weaver, E. Santana, and Wilson is a pretty good front 3.
