Fox News Poll: Gingrich Leads in GOP Voter Preference
fox news ^ | 12/8/11 | Dana Blanton

Newt Gingrich is the clear front-runner for the 2012 Republican nomination -- and the biggest beneficiary of Herman Cain’s departure from the race. Mitt Romney, again, holds steady with about a quarter of GOP primary voters in his camp.A Fox News poll released Thursday shows Gingrich up 13 percentage points since mid-November. Cain suspended his campaign on December 3.

In the latest snapshot of the race, Gingrich receives the backing of 36 percent of GOP primary voters. That’s up from 23 percent last month -- and is three times the 12 percent he had in late October. It also represents the largest share of the vote that a candidate has received in six months of Fox News polling. The previous high was 26 percent for Romney over the summer.

That puts significant distance between the former House speaker and former front-runner Romney, who receives 23 percent in the new poll. Last month, 22 percent supported Romney and 15 percent Cain.

Romney has consistently polled in the low-to-mid 20s among GOP primary voters. In six months of Fox News polling, Romney’s highest backing came in July and August, with 26 percent. He hit a low of 20 percent in late October.

Ron Paul also picked up bit of support with Cain out of the race. Paul now receives 12 percent, up from 8 percent three weeks ago.

Rick Perry comes in at 8 percent. Last month, he had 7 percent.

Just keep pushing Romney down to Huntsman and perhaps they can come together and spend their time telling each other of their liberal accomplishments and fight over who is the best liberal!

More Push Polls. They are lies. Faked data to manipulate the population. Is it credible that over 50% of conservatives are for Obamacare, gun-grabbing, amnesty, big-government, crony-capitalism, etc? That’s what we would have to blindly accept without question to believe propaganda like this.

Gingrich = a sleezebag insider who knows how to play the system

Romney = a sleezebag insider who does not know how to play the system

The only good conservatives left are Bachmann and Santorum. Both have no chance in hell. Perry is the only logical choice.

Gingrich is just not electable. There is wayyyy too much baggage attached to this guy; and the Dems will have a field day with their oppo ads practically written for them.

(I'll vote for whomever wins the GOP nomination, even - - ugh - - Gingrich. I just hope it's someone else ... that can win.)

This is what it is like to walk the plank: just like with John McCain in 2008 or Bob Dole in 1996.

Suppose Newt does beat Obama.

Under President Newt, the Republican Congress is pressured to cooperate with House and Senate Democrats (a la George W. Bush) to pass the “path to citizenship” for illegal aliens.

Then what happens? Just like California, millions of new Democrat voters are created that will vote against Republican candidates in every subsequent election. Newt, like Bush, starts another neocon inspired foreign war with some country like Iran or Syria.

Then Newt, like Bush, successfully alienates conservatives, libertarians, and independent voters, and the Democrats retake Congress in 2014 and the White House in 2016.

But, Newt will be president! Then he will be succeeded by an indefinite number of Democrat presidents once changing demographics have given the Democrats a lock on the Southwest.

Sure and it is really firm support, since only 61% say they could change their minds. LOL

I'm going to support Bachmann because I agree with most of her views, and hope she can overcome her tendency for gaffes and successfully answer for her past gaffes.

Did you listen to Rush today? Rush reported that newt reaffirmed his support for THE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE. How can you say wooohooo for a man that calls himself a TEA Party Conservative and supports the very foundational cornerstone that obamacare depends on for its existence?

First it is ok to allow 45 million mexican illegals to stay here... then he still has concerns over and believes in globull warming and now its ok for newt to support the very item we are presently waiting to battle over in the SCOTUS... all to kill off obamacare and he thinks it is Constitutional and not only that... he supports its implementation. It boggles the mind... I swear it does.

It looks like perry “may” be the turd that we are forced to select to float in our punchbowl. This election sickens me to my core. I have never been so disgusted and angry over a selection of candidates in my lifetime... and I have voted for some serious feces over the years.
