EPA Claim Fracking Caused Wy. Water Contamination
|Dow Jones Newswires ^ | Thursday, December 08, 2011 | Ryan Tracy|

Posted on 12/08/2011 8:33:02 PM PST by Rabin

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Thursday that chemicals found in Wyoming drinking water were likely associated with hydraulic fracturing in natural gas wells in the area, raising tensions in an ongoing debate over the drilling practice.

Shale has just handed EPA a hammer. Wonder what they will do with it.

The EPA is a rogue agency and their mission is to destroy this country.

Except the wells weren’t tested for the same stuff before the fracking.

Getting rid of the EPA won’t do anything until we rewrite the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act to allow more for more stringent scientific standards and bring business to equal footing with the environment in making regulations.

There are some risks to drilling. That said, I support drilling to make us energy independent.

I do not support taking those risks to water etc so that drillers can liquefy and ship our gas and resources to China. We need to keep the price of energy low for American consumers and business, so that we can compete with global manufacturing and business. Maximizing the profits of drillers at USA expense I do not support.

Questions not posed nor answered:

1. How old are the gas wells in the area?
2. Is there surface casing through the fresh water zone?
3. How were they completed? Is the annular space between the pipe and the rock wall cemented? Were have geophysical logs been run to verify cement placement?
4. Has an integrity test been performed on the well to identify any casing leaks.
5. When was the hydraulic fracturing performed and are details on pressure, additives, etc. available?

Once having those answers there then could be serious discussion as to possible impact from hydraulic fracturing.

You don't understand how it works.

If we ship lots of energy products to other countries, the world price is forced down resulting in cheaper energy whether we get it from here or over seas.

That said, it certainly makes more sense for us to use our own and ship the surplus, if we can get to the surplus stage.

In either case, since we are the world's greatest user, the world price would fall when the biggest customer stops buying overseas.

But more than that, energy is a national security issue, one of several national security issues obummer has screwed up.

This government is intent on destroying our nation. We have no steel industry. We have no farming industry. And they are going to see to it that we’ll have no oil industry. Small businesses are also going down the tube.

A FReeper said in a post 2 years ago concerning how Mexicans who can afford it are girding themselves for “days of terror,”:

“Poor America. So far from God and so close to Mexico.”

Oh, that millions of people in our nation would turn to God! What is it going to take?

A good time to invest in GASFRAC-a small Canadian company that uses liquid propane instead of water to Frac

You must have spent a few years in the oilfield as you ask the right questions. I worked the rigs for 17 years. We were fracing back in 1966 when I started working in the oilfields. In 1966 is was not a new procedure.

The environazis have only become interested in fracing in relationship to shale gas, oil and light liquids. The technique of fracing the shale source rock has opened up a vast new horizon for the production of energy that will last many years.

Fracing is not new. What is new is fracing the shale source rock. When the enviromentalist realized what a huge increase in gases, oil, and distillates this would produce is when they started demonizing fracing.

The whole issue is not about ground water contamination which is minimal even with bad techniques. The issue is about keeping the USA hobbled by our lack of development of our huge energy sources in this nation.

The envirometalists are not patriots and by and large they are socialists and Marxists. Their objective is the destruction of our nation and capitalism.

Sounds like they are preparing the playing field. Too bad, that they are going to be cut loose in less than a year...

Maybe they can get jobs pumping gas.

Don't blame the environmentalists entirely. They're not smart enough to recognize what you said here. They're nothing more than useful idiots for the people who fund them, or the people who seek to control the supply of energy commodities.

EPA has admitted they’ve never found a contaminated well.

Until now.

Fancy that. Just as the anti-frackers are becoming more shrill the EPA just happens to hit paydirt with a contaminiated well.

Right. Now tell me the EPA themselves didn’t contaminate it to get the results that they wanted. Just like the DOJ was planning on sneaking guns into Mexico so the Obama administration could create new gun laws using the havoc THEY CREATED as the basis to restrict 2d Amendment rights.

This administration is the most anti-American, anti-freedom administration in our history.
