“Freedom can only truly exist on a frontier.”
That’s one form of freedom. The other is when your frontier is among others in the same place and none of them encroaches on the other.
IMHO
Well you certainly did take my comments on a strange journey.
Many candidates promise to serve a limited term and keep their word. You are suggesting that those who set an example are wasting their efforts. That is true, if voters don’t notice and don’t care.
Oh my - you are correct sir! Sorry I misunderstood.
As did you for mine initially! Now we're both quite "exercised."
You may disagree with the message - he is a libertarian - but the conversation is important.
Of course I didn't disagree with the message at all in the first place, just about what he calls himself.
And as you point out, if the populace is indifferent to the integrity of the officeholders, then fiddling with democracy and the republic is futile.
We're partly to blame aren't we? The right is trying to pick a king right now (Palin and other aspire to be "kingmakers" even.) Rick Perry and Obama alike are allowed to say that "THEY" create jobs! Congress is impotent.
Quitting after 7 years is not admirable in that case. Staying in and gumming up the gears in the handcart-to-hell is.
