Macy’s fires woman for refusing ‘transgender’ man access to women’s fitting room
Life Site News ^ | 7 December 2011 | Peter Baklinski

Posted on 12/09/2011 6:21:03 AM PST by IbJensen

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, December 8, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A woman has been fired from a Macy’s department store for denying a man dressed as a woman access to the women’s fitting room.

“I had to either comply with Macy’s or comply with God,” said Natalie Johnson, 27, a former employee at the retail giant’s location in Rivercenter Mall, San Antonio. Natalie Johnson says she was concerned for her female customers, who she thought might be uncomfortable about having a man in their fitting room.

According to Johnson, on November 30th she witnessed a young cross-dressing man wearing make-up and girl’s clothing exit the women’s fitting room. She told the man “politely” that the women’s fitting room was for women only, making it clear that he was not to make use of the room again.

The customer, along with five companions, argued in response that Macy’s is friendly to the LGBT community.

Join a Facebook page to defend marriage here.

Johnson retorted that Macy’s doesn’t discriminate against religious beliefs, adding that it would go against her religious beliefs to act on a lie that a man was a woman.

“I couldn’t lie and say that he was a woman. I’m going to be accountable to what I say to my Lord Jesus,” said Johnson, a member of Tabernacle of Prayer, to My San Antonio.

Johnson says she believes that she was acting for the good of her female customers who she thought might be uncomfortable about having a man in their fitting room.

The group demanded to see the manager, who, siding with the transgendered person, pointed Johnson to Macy’s LGBT policy, which allows transgender persons to change in any dressing room of their choice.

The manager gave Johnson an ultimatum: comply with the LGBT policies or lose her job.

Johnson replied that the policy was against her sincerely held religious convictions. She was fired the next day.

“I was fired for standing up for what I believe in,” she said.

The conservative Christian law firm Liberty Counsel has decided to take Johnson’s case.

“Macy’s policy which allows men to use the women’s dressing room is fraught with problems,” the firm stated in a press release on Monday.

“Macy’s has essentially opened women’s dressing rooms to every man. The LGBT agenda has become the theater of the absurd.”

Matt Staver, Liberty Counsel’s founder and chairman, told My San Antonio that his firm is fighting for Johnson to help her reclaim her job and to change Macy’s policy.

“To me, it’s a liability waiting to happen. It’s just a matter of time that a man goes into a female fitting room and watches women undress or, even worse, rapes a woman.”

The American Family Association (AFA) is urging people to contact Macy’s headquarters to express “outrage at this injustice to female employees and customers.”

“Macy’s has done a great injustice by firing Natalie Johnson, whose first priority is the welfare and safety of Macy’s customers,” reads the lines of a draft e-mail composed by AFA that can be sent directly to Macy’s president, Terry Lundgren, and other key executives.

AFA says it would like to see Macy’s apologize to Johnson, to reinstate her position in the company, and to put safeguards in place that will protect all women customers from men who desire to enter their fitting rooms.

Done shopping at Macy’s until this is changed. I am sick and tired of being told that abnormal is normal and normal is abnormal.

The one major reasons we have separate bathrooms and dressing rooms for men and women is for the safety of women.
Let's not ever lose sight of that.

Thanks to Macy's the Ted Bundys of the world can now just wear a scarf or skirt and get access to women's dressing rooms and restrooms.

What could go wrong?

Exactly. The most insightful quote in the article comes from the attorney of the group representing the fired Macy’s employee”

“To me, it’s a liability waiting to happen. It’s just a matter of time that a man goes into a female fitting room and watches women undress or, even worse, rapes a woman.”

I would hope Macy’s risk management people understand this and get the store’s policy changed.

So many Americans favor Macy’s policies, however, because they see themselves as “tolerant” and “open-minded.”

By the way, I was trying some clothes on at J. Crew, and was disconcerted to have to put up with a young man sitting outside the dressing room while his girlfriend tried on clothes. I guess a lot of the stores have unisex dressing rooms. But with only women salespeople, how would this work if some sociopath was operating in the dressing rooms?

This will just result in stores eliminating fitting rooms. They are a big headache for them anyway. Staffing them, putting back all the clothes, and theft. Now this? It will be easier just to eliminate the problems by getting rid of these rooms.

“I was fired for standing up for what I believe in,” she said.

Actually, she was fired for standing up for ME! Macy's doesn't consider how I feel about trying on clothes or standing and having alterations being made and a man come in to the dressing area.

I go to certain stores to shop so I don't have to deal with the unisex dressing arrangements. Looks like Macy's won't get any business of mine...

I think the difference with stores like The Gap and J. Crew is that the dressing rooms are modernized. They are more public that Macy’s, very well lit and often with locks on the doors and floor-to-ceiling walls. Macy’s, on the other hand, are dimly lit and in the far reaches of the store - ripe for trouble.

But I well understand your discomfort having a young man sitting right outside your door!!

Not that it matters a whole lot, but how are you supposed to tell if it’s a “transgendered” person as opposed to just someone cross dressing?

Also, if they are actually transgendered, why does the policy allow them to enter either room? Shouldn’t they have to enter the room that matches what they have...uh...transgendered to?

And who is supposed to ask them anyway? The attendant of the dressing rooms is in a no win situation.

I suspect that if you even ask, you will be fired.

And if you let a cross dressing man in the ladies area, you will also be fired.

True, there was a lock on the door. But not two feet away the young man sat and talked with the girl he was with the whole time while she opened the door of her room and came out modeling, then went back in and tried on some more.

The other problem is that “transgendered” men are often psychos. Living in NY, I’ve seen some of their more bizarre and menacing behavior. They often take drugs and are high as a kite.

Another thing: no “transgendered” man can wear Macy’s clothes. This whole thing is a set up for a law suit. Trannies have to go to special stores and online websites to the find high heels in size 15.

“I’m sick to death of Gay activists pushing women around”. WE HAVE A WINNER. It is the snide dismissal of women (a hallmark of Barney Frank) that allows them to treat our mothers, sisters, daughters and wives as SECOND CLASS CITIZENS in places reserved for their privacy. The employee should have protested that she was offended as a woman instead of arguing on religious grounds.MACY’s can laugh of the religious customers. But women can put a store out of business.

I’m a little worked up on this subject today so please excuse my emotion.

The theatre is my profession and I have just found out that the B’way musical “On a Clear Day,” has written out the female lead (her name was Daisy and she was played on stage by Barbara Harris and in the movies by Barbra Streisand) and replaced her with...a gay man. This is the third or fourth time when something like this has happened. The gays are destroying theatre careers for women and women are too intimidated to speak up.

Plumbing shouldn't matter--a Y-chromosome denotes the male of the species, regardless of how an individual male may have chosen to mutilate himself. And an employee would certainly risk getting fired for asking a customer to "drop trou'".

If my wife found a transvestite in the ladies fitting room, the Macy's clerk would be the least of the pervert's worries.

What a society we've come to, where this sort of thing actually needs to be discussed seriously. 20 years ago, this freak would have been tossed out on his ass and told not to come back.

And, while I'm ranting, this smells like a setup. 1 perv in the ladies' room, accompanied by 5 friends to provide the outrage, and an accompanying lawsuit.

I just fired off a blue dart email to Macy's CEO regarding their stupid, dangerous and unsettling policy of allowing male "transgenders" to wander in and out of womens' changing-room areas.

I hope other freeper women do the same. We MUST fight back against the insanity going on in our country....we also MUST put our mouth where our freeping is.

Many women have led somewhat sheltered lives and have never been in contact with grown men dressed as women complete with full makeup, wigs and high heels.

I guarantee you, it's not only unsettling, it makes your skin crawl.

Many decades ago as part of my employment I had to deal with men in drag who were in the entertainment business. I rather quickly had to refuse to participate in this aspect of my duties as I couldn't handle it and didn't WANT to handle it....it was so abnormal and creepy.

Someone else was quetly put in my place without a problem. If this same scenario was today I probably would be fired or publicly disgraced as a "gender bigot" for refusing to recognize and approve unnatural, deviant behavior.

Leftists as a whole are antifemale. Use females for sex, but unless they are some sort of sexual curiosity, straight hetero women are useless.

The “free love” movement should have made it abundantly clear to women what lefties regard them as.

And communists don’t have women running the factories either.

Well, shouldn’t Macy’s policy, if they are going to have one regarding trannys, be that a man converted to a “woman” is only allowed in the women’s dressing room?

And vice versa?

Shouldn’t they have to conform to the rules for the “gender” they have decided on?

The policy seems to be that “SHe” can go in either one, which seems like it really means anyone can go in any room if they just claim to be, or appear to be, a tranny.

That is, there’s really no policy.

If Macy’s is going to cater to that “community”, then they should install “transgender” bathrooms and dressing rooms, and the rest of us will know to stay clear...of both those rooms and Macy’s...

I was once - years ago - menaced by a high-as-a-kite crossdresser with long, blood-red fingernails. He tore the face of someone near me (on a bus of all things!) It turned me off these freaks forever.

And you’re right: some women are too sheltered in this country. They need to wake up.

"Why are they forgetting conservatives who shop at Macy's?"

You can forget THAT question at your shareholders meeting if you're still considering it.

Corporate management and boards of trustees are not interested in "bible-huggin' conservatives" as a whole, but they ARE interested that "women" comprise more than 50% of the population plus the majority of their customers.

Stick to the SAFETY AND PERSONAL COMFORT WHILE SHOPPING FOR WOMENS' CLOTHING issues....and pound hard on this!

Mention the word "conservative" and your question will be dead on arrival in that corporate meeting room...and it will be ignored so smoothly you'll never know it.

Twice, in the past I have had boys that were brought in dressing rooms with their mothers peep at me under the dressing room while I was changing or naked.

Twice.

The boys were approx 6 and 9 and I felt so incredibly violated and there was nothing that could be done about it.

I just started shopping at Macy’s and will stop until this is changed. A man is a man. Period. If the Macy’s CEO can feel comfortable with a gay male with an erection/and or masturbating or even being raped while he is in the same room naked with them, fine. As far as I am concerned, that is not far from what could happen to a vulnerable woman who is naked or changing clothes in a secluded room with a door with a lock. I have worked in a company with transgendered and there is something very wrong with them and I refuse to do business with any company who says they are of more worth than me.

It is going way past acceptable boundaries for me. IMHO of course.
