Hospital Aborts Wrong Twin in Horrible Mistake

A woman in Australia who was pregnant with twins decided to have one of her babies aborted after doctors discovered that he had a life-threatening congenital heart defect. The seriously disturbing part? The doctors aborted the wrong fetus, terminating a perfectly healthy child.

After doctors realized the "blunder," the woman, who was 32 weeks pregnant, had to undergo an emergency cesarean to deliver the sick fetus, where it was later terminated. The Royal Women's Hospital confirmed the incident and referred to it as a "terrible tragedy." Um, yeah ... one could say that.

I honestly really don't even know what to say about this. It's one of those occurrences that's so terrible and heart-breaking and unreal-seeming that it leaves me sort of confused. I can't imagine -- literally -- what it would be like to go through something so gut-wrenching. The decision to terminate the one twin had to be taxing and grueling enough for this woman. To then have both of the twins terminated -- because of a hospital's mistake? I can't. I wish there was something I -- or anyone -- could do for this poor lady. But I know there's not.

My bet is the “pro-choice” crowd won't find this disturbing at all. They'll just probably say something stupid like, “Mistakes happen”.

Thank God your mom knew the right thing to do.

As for me, I’m due in February, and opted to leave ob/gyn “care” for midwife care and am planning a home birth. The difference in care is night and day; with the midwife I actually feel like the baby and I are really cared for.

Can someone explain to me what is the different between “terminating” a disabled infant, and Hitler liquidating mentally disabled or otherwise handicapped people?

Yes. Hitler was one mentally disabled person himself. Today, we have thousands of mentally disabled doctors willing to kill babies for any reason.

Why didn’t they take the heart(a perfect match)from the aborted baby and transplant it into the sick baby?

It’s very possible that both might have survived. It’s not as if they’ve never been wrong in diagnosing this kind of thing.. I would think of this every day for the rest of my life.

had to undergo an emergency cesarean to deliver the sick fetus, where it was later terminated.

Is that the new term for killing children living outside the womb too?

That’s a very good question.

Ladies, ALWAYS go with a pro-life OB/GYN. Two of my perfectly healthy cousins would not be here had their mothers listened to the doctors who prescribed execution for maladies that never manifested. You mean to tell me they couldn’t have done any kind of procedure for the baby with the heart defect? And then they murdered the baby outside the womb?

As the bumper stickers say, God is coming and He is p***ed.

The nephew of one of my fellow Knights of Columbus was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome in the womb. The doctor suggested abortion. The mother refused. Three years ago he was the Valedictorian at St. Anslem’s college.

Reminds me of Tim Tebow's story:
With that kind of lineup, you’d think this son of missionaries and walking miracle would be welcomed into the fold in hopes that some of this saint’s goodness would rub off on the sinners. For the unaware, Tebow is a “walking miracle” because his mother refused her doctors’ life-saving advice to abort her presumed-to-be stillborn son while still in her womb. They both lived. And Tebow’s been beating the odds and his critics ever since.

More like Life Murdering advice.

Reading the article I was wondering if “congenital heart defect” was code for “Downs Syndrome”....

After over 50 million abortions in almost 39 years, I would guess most were perfectly healthy babies....

..and even if not, they were babies and they were killed.

This woman seemingly had no qualms about murdering the one.....so her mindset was seriously defective to begin with, imo

over 53,000,000 in the past 38 years, in usa alone, worldwide, over 1 BILLION murders of innocent life have occurred in their own mothers wombs.

The three most frequently cited “hard cases” in which some argue abortion might be justified are rape, incest and protecting the life of the mother. However, women rarely report that they are seeking an abortion for any of these reasons:

Rape: 0.3%

Incest: 0.03%

Protection of mother’s life: 0.2%

Planned Parenthood aborts over 300,000 unborn children every year in the USA. Our laws permit this. What are we doing about this slaughter in the womb?

This headline implies that it’s horrible that the one kid was aborted, but if the other had been, it would have been ok. It’s not really a horrible mistake. With the “mistake” or not, one child would have been aborted. It was a horrible choice to abort one child in the first place.”

The right one to abort (after a trial, of course — I'm not advocating vigilante justice) is the doctor if he is convicted of premeditated murder.

Even today, least in some American states, the “emergency C-section” followed by killing the second baby outside the womb might still result in criminal charges. Biblically and morally, there should be no difference between killing a pre-born baby and a post-born baby, but at least today many Americans still understand there is no difference between killing a baby five minutes after birth and five months after birth.

So the rational response to a "life-threatening defect" is to...kill the child?!
