Remember the Gerald Walpin affair? Republican Sen. Charles Grassley does.

Walpin was the inspector general of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the organization that runs the AmeriCorps service program. In June 2009, Walpin received a call from Norman Eisen, who was then the Special Counsel to the President for Ethics and Government Reform. Eisen told Walpin he had an hour to either resign or be fired.

Eisen's call appeared to violate the 2008 Inspectors General Reform Act, which is designed to protect inspectors general from political interference. The Act requires the president to give Congress 30 days' notice, plus an explanation of cause, before firing an inspector general. In Walpin's case, the White House did neither

Grassley should not have relented. The idea that someone who lied to Congress and then admitted the lie could be appointed an ambassador is disgusting.

I’m sure our former Czech allies are not too happy having to deal with someone who is untrustworthy.

This makes me madder’n a bob-tailed bull in fly season.

Do we have ONE Republican with the STONES to prosecute these Dem hack liars?

Call them out or lose your job *Grassley & the others* -

Instead of ‘accepting’ some fake non-apology & giving dem liars a cushy diplomatic post.

WTH is WRONG with these people? Is it this close to pitchfork time? Does anyone have the responsibility to represent us anymore?
screw them all
I’m sick of this shiite

Dear IRS,

Regarding my newly discovered source of income.

"It is now my understanding that I answered a few of the questions inaccurately, although at the time I thought they were accurate. Of course, it was not my intent to mislead staff in any way, but to the extent that I was unclear in my responses, or that my declining to answer questions created confusion, I regret it and I sincerely apologize."

The best line is in the comments...

“Why does Roger Clemons go to jail for this when Obama’s appointees, even his attorney general and now the former Democrat Senator and Governor Corzine not even get charged.”

Why aren't Holder and Eisen going to jail like Rodger Clemons and Martha Stewart? What's the difference?

Unbelievable!! Lie, hold out, fess up, apologize, get new gig - the dems have this down pat and the Republicans just sit on their hands.

I wonder where the case for Walpin being reinstated stands now. Guess I’ll look it up instead of wondering.

That is considered an apology - an admission of guilt in telling our elected officials a bald-faced lie!

No nation can survive such duplicitous behavior from its leadership.

Why are so few Republicans voicing any outrage at this criminal administration? Unfortunately, we know the answer to that question.

Clemons isn't a democRAT?

Just a wild guess.

So give Walpin his job back, with back pay and fire Eisen. Grassley, why did you fold?

can there be any doubt why ALL decent citizens should despise these scumbags who make up our political classes??

nearly all of them are wholly without character!!

What Senator can possibly vote to confirm this scumbag as a US Ambassador???

How has “Congressional oversight” failed so completely to deal with the original malfeasance after so much time elapsed??

That statement seems to be making the rounds (Corzine, Holder) much as all the other RAT “talking points” do.

When he was fired, wasn’t the impetus about something Moochelle had been up to? He discovered whatever it was and made noise about it, and was ‘rewarded’ accordingly?

Precisely. Grassley should have invoked Scooter Libby’s results and issued a writ for contempt of Congress!

The United States Attorney General does it in spades; why shouldn’t “lesser lights”?
