CBS poll: 54% say Obama doesn’t deserve re-election
Hot Air ^ | DECEMBER 7, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

News of the CBS poll dropped while I was driving yesterday evening to Des Moines to cover tonight’s Republican debate, and in looking at the figures this morning, the White House has to be happy this came out on a Friday night. Despite a three-month strategy to claim the moral high ground through class warfare, not-so-coincidentally occurring with labor-backed protests in most major cities, Barack Obama’s approval numbers have not changed much at all. The latest CBS survey shows his job approval under water at 44/46, but that’s not the worst part of the poll results for the President:

Less than one year out from Election Day 2012, voters remain overwhelmingly pessimistic about the economy, and their concerns are taking a toll on President Obama’s re-election chances. Just 41 percent of Americans think Mr. Obama has performed his job well enough to be elected to a second term, whereas 54 percent don’t think so.

The president’s overall approval rating remains in the mid-40′s, according to a CBS News poll – lower than the approval ratings of Mr. Obama’s four presidential predecessors at this point in their first terms. Mr. Obama’s approval rating is dragged down by his poor marks for his handling of the economy – which, at 33 percent, is the lowest rating of his presidency in CBS News polls.

In my over half century I have never seen so many well spoken conservatives as now. The conservative bench is also very deep, consider how many good ones who aren’t even running.

For the ‘RATs it is all over but the Fat Lady singing.

Oh, wait a minute. Barney Frank WAS the Fat Lady singing for the libs.

Newt is a fine candidate. If nominated, he will win.

Our candidates are not more pathetic than theirs.

It is just that the erosive process by liberals in the government, media, Hollywood and general public begins far before any Republican or conservative candidate even declares.

The chipping process begins years in advance. Just look at Sarah Palin. Those entities described above began chipping away, eroding and destroying her from the very second someone breathed her name in the public eye as presidential or vice presidential material.

This relentless, corrosive process begins and continues unabated until/after election day or the candidate drops out of a race.

Every single pore of their face, every rumor, every misstep, every contradiction, every flaw is relentlessly probed, analyzed, publicized, hashed over, exaggerated and spread until the truth or pertinence maintains no relationship to reality or sanity.

Not just actual flaws or mistakes are processed in this fashion by the liberal media/politicians/public/Hollywood, but actual slander. It makes no difference if some trumpeted flaw or misdeed has any basis in reality, they are communicated as reality. And when, after vigorous disproval, the subject is dropped by those slanderers without a word of explanation, apology or retraction, it is as if it had never occurred. It disappears into the Memory Hole only to resurface over, and over, and over again (in the Internet, opinion columns and cocktail conversation) like a drowning man breaking the surface before finally disappearing for good years or decades later.

If you were able to take the process by which a landscape is eroded over eons by the inexorable application of the elements (the flow of water, the force of the wind and movement of the earth’s crust) and speed it up to match the cycle from which a Republican or conservative candidate is either rumored to be considering or actually announces a candidacy to their destruction or defeat and change the forces of nature to the forces of liberal media and opinion, it would demonstrate the exact parallel.

No liberal candidate undergoes this prolonged and unwavering treatment. Never. Ever. If they were, the truth would be revealed about liberalism and its relative merits, and that cannot be allowed to happen.

"Less than one year out from Election Day 2012"

None of this means crapola now. Things will change so much between now and then.

This election is ours to lose.

We could run a house plant at this point and win. Not that I am a Romney supporter mind you...

But how many would vote for Obama to prevent a right wing fanatic from getting in?

besides, Trump will run as a conservative and split the R vote. Worked with Perot, and like Perot Trump donates $$ mostly to dems.

Unless this rating gets up around 60 he will most likely win reelection.

We need aomeone like Palin who is willing to fight this and not back down. She backed down. At some point people will realize that our freedom is ours to lose. Life without freedom is death anyways.

His numbers seem to be several points below where Bush was in 2004. But Bush won 51% to 48%... this next election is going to be very very close

TimPaw did run. He just saw the writing on the wall earlier than Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and Rick Perry.
